Location: Kate, in the vibrant city of Lagos, Nigeria.

Our client, a distinguished Afro fusion restolounge located in Kate, Lagos, is seeking a Head Chef who possesses formal culinary training alongside an authentic creative vision. We are in pursuit of excellence, and applicants must hold a qualification from a recognized culinary school to be considered.

What you will do:

Crafting and overseeing the complete menu, from inception to implementation, with a strong foundation in Afro fusion cuisine.

Continuously create innovative dishes, seasonal specials, and immersive tasting experiences that showcase culinary creativity and cultural richness.

Direct and oversee the kitchen team, ensuring each dish meets established quality standards while fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment. Provide ongoing training and mentorship to enhance team performance and maintain consistency in food preparation and presentation.

Foster an environment characterized by discipline, accountability, and ongoing enhancement among all kitchen personnel.

Organize and deliver ongoing training programs designed to enhance the team’s proficiency in techniques, adherence to standards, and familiarity with new menu offerings.

Oversee kitchen inventory with precision, encompassing stock tracking, procurement, vendor coordination, and minimizing waste.

Compile comprehensive, punctual reports detailing kitchen performance metrics, food costs, inventory levels, and operational challenges for managerial evaluation.

Responsible for managing food cost analysis, kitchen budget administration, and menu profitability assessment in coordination with the restaurant manager.

Ensure adherence to stringent guidelines governing food preparation, presentation, hygiene, and portion sizes.

Maintain strict adherence to all food safety and health regulations consistently.

On-site presence is required for this position at least five days each week, with a focus on active, hands-on leadership within the kitchen environment rather than remote supervision.

What we are looking for:

A recognized culinary school diploma or certificate is essential, with no exceptions.

With seven or more years of professional kitchen experience, candidates must have fulfilled a minimum of three years in a Head Chef or Executive Chef capacity.

Demonstrates extensive proficiency in Afro fusion culinary arts, supported by a comprehensive and well-documented collection of original menu creations.

Accomplished in leadership and team development, with a proven ability to assemble and mentor high-performing kitchen crews to achieve operational excellence.

With a proven track record in training and development, adept at designing and delivering comprehensive onboarding programs and upskilling initiatives for kitchen staff across all levels.

Proficient in generating detailed reports, ensuring precise tracking of costs, inventory levels, and kitchen efficiency on a regular basis.

Possesses a solid grasp of food cost analysis, kitchen budget management, and inventory control methodologies.

A strong enthusiasm for innovation, coupled with the drive to challenge limits while remaining committed to the fundamental idea.

Maintains impeccable standards of cleanliness, presentation, and professional discipline at all times.

Consistently delivers high-quality performance under demanding and fast-paced service conditions.
