Location: The position is situated in UGAP, Cross River State.

Job Summary:

The ART nurse collaborates with clinicians to facilitate the seamless execution of ART service delivery throughout the facility. They provide direct assistance to both health facilities and community-based HIV prevention initiatives while enhancing referral and linkage systems.

Conducts a diverse range of critical tasks and fulfills primary obligations with precision and accountability. Delivers core functions in alignment with organizational goals and operational standards. Ensures adherence to established procedures while maintaining high levels of efficiency and accuracy in all assigned duties. Demonstrates proficiency in executing responsibilities that contribute to overall team success and departmental objectives.

Working alongside the facility medical officer, clinicians, pharmacists, laboratory team, and Teas, mentor mothers deliver high-quality, evidence-based ART, PMTCT, prevention, and TB services to ensure optimal patient care.

Deliver comprehensive HIV testing services and offer counseling to pregnant and breastfeeding women.

To facilitate timely early infant diagnosis and ensure comprehensive follow-up care for HIV-exposed infants.

Facilitate the continued engagement of mother-baby pairs within healthcare services to ensure sustained access to necessary care and support.

Provide guidance and encouragement to fellow healthcare professionals to foster their growth and development.

Attend various training sessions, meetings, and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Implement and scale up PITCH within the designated health facilities.

Delivers expert nursing interventions, including but not limited to wound care and dressing changes, with precision and adherence to established medical protocols.

Administers medications as prescribed, ensuring compliance with the established scope of practice for the licensed role.

Offer guidance to ensure adherence to prescribed protocols while enhancing understanding of treatment methodologies.

Participates in team conferences as scheduled, contributing actively to discussions and collaborative efforts.

May serve in a team lead capacity at the facility, supporting the delivery and oversight of patient care.

Documents patient charts and administers medications in strict adherence to established protocols.

Educates patients and their families with comprehensive, compassionate care to ensure understanding and engagement in the treatment process.

Ensure strict adherence to established infection prevention and control protocols at all times.

The candidate should demonstrate strong teamwork and leadership capabilities.

Demonstrates sound judgment and effective decision-making abilities in all professional interactions and responsibilities.

Maintains strict adherence to patient confidentiality protocols at all times.

Notifies the RN and/or medical provider immediately of any substantial alterations observed in the patient’s physical condition.

Develop and maintain strong connections and seamless referrals for patients, both internally within the facility and externally to other healthcare providers.

Collaborate with the prevention coordinator to oversee community program staff, guaranteeing both goal attainment and the prompt completion and distribution of reports.

Maintain precise and prompt documentation of all services rendered, including the completion of registers, electronic medical records (EMR’s), and reporting tools.

Conduct operational research initiatives to address critical inquiries pertaining to AHF’s treatment and prevention programs.

Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Seeking a candidate with a strong educational background in a relevant field and substantial experience in the industry. Applicants must possess the necessary qualifications and years of hands-on practice to excel in the role. Professional development through prior roles or specialized training is highly valued.

University graduates with a degree in nursing or an equivalent qualification are eligible to apply for this position.

Registered Nurse or Registered Midwife holding additional certifications and boasting a minimum of five years of relevant clinical experience.

Requires a minimum of three years of direct HIV program management experience.

A strong understanding of the Minimum Prevention Package for Nigeria is a critical requirement.

Highly organized and adept at managing multiple priorities effectively.

Proficient in preparing clear, concise reports and conveying information with precision and clarity.

Professionals must uphold a strong commitment to ethical standards and maintain the strictest confidentiality regarding matters concerning HIV/AIDS clients.

Demonstrated expertise in utilizing Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint is required.
