Key Relationships
Seasoned Head of Strategy & Transformation with line management accountability, responsible for establishing strategic transformation priorities and overseeing the portfolio’s evolution.
Managing Directors within Business Units (Bus) and initiative sponsors maintain a close working relationship throughout active initiatives; the role functions as the Chief Executive Officer’s operational counterpart within initiatives owned by the BU.
BU initiative leaders and workstream owners serve as the primary day-to-day collaborators responsible for initiative delivery.
As the Group CEO, you will be responsible for overseeing periodic updates on the progress of the transformation portfolio and ensuring that truly critical issues receive appropriate escalation.
Colleagues on the strategy team facilitate the seamless alignment of strategic vision with the implementation of transformation initiatives.
Oversee and execute primary duties, ensuring all operational tasks are completed efficiently and in accordance with established standards. Manage key functions, including process optimization, resource allocation, and performance monitoring, to drive productivity and maintain high-quality outcomes. Lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives, resolve challenges, and foster a cohesive work environment. Maintain compliance with industry regulations, company policies, and best practices while identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Track progress through data analysis, generate reports, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership for informed decision-making.
Overseeing the delivery of transformation initiatives, the role is responsible for ensuring rigorous execution of a CEO-prioritized subset of business unit-owned initiatives. This encompasses organizing the initiative into structured, deliverable workstreams, setting clear milestones, and maintaining a consistent tracking cadence. Additionally, the position involves identifying execution bottlenecks in real time and facilitating their resolution. While the business unit retains ownership of the initiative, this role is accountable for upholding the standards of execution discipline and ensuring timely progress.
Problem-solving and solution design are critical components of this role. When a project encounters obstacles, the successful candidate will identify the underlying issues—whether related to capabilities, resources, politics, or design—and collaborate with business unit counterparts to develop a viable solution. This demands consulting-level analytical skills, applied within an operational setting where the individual lacks formal authority. Rather than merely providing recommendations, they must execute and deliver results.
The role demands strong engagement and accountability, requiring direct collaboration with business unit initiative leads and sponsors to sustain progress. It involves ensuring BU counterparts adhere to agreed timelines, data delivery, and resource allocation, with escalation reserved for instances when organic momentum has fully dissipated. Credibility and impact derive from the quality of contributions and sound judgment rather than hierarchical authority.
The role involves overseeing and reporting on the transformation portfolio, ensuring an accurate and transparent assessment of progress—identifying initiatives that are on track, those that are deviating from plan, and those requiring escalation or termination. This position requires the preparation of detailed portfolio updates for the Head of Strategy & Transformation, as well as for executive-level presentations. The individual in this role is tasked with proactively identifying and addressing issues with honesty, avoiding overly optimistic interpretations of progress.
Bring structured transformation approaches—such as initiative charters, milestone frameworks, risk and dependency tracking, and benefits realization—tailored to ARM’s operational environment. Adapt these methodologies to ensure they enhance delivery speed rather than generate unnecessary documentation. Focus on practical, lightweight frameworks that drive meaningful outcomes without imposing cumbersome processes.
Over time, the role aims to cultivate and instill robust transformation execution capabilities within Business Unit (BU) teams. The ultimate benchmark for success lies not in the individual’s indispensability, but in the measurable enhancement of the BU teams’ ability to independently drive and sustain change following collaboration with the position holder.
We evaluate success by measuring performance against specific, predefined benchmarks that reflect organizational goals. Key indicators include the timely completion of projects, adherence to budget constraints, and the achievement of measurable outcomes tied to strategic objectives. Additionally, we assess the quality of deliverables, stakeholder satisfaction, and the efficiency of processes implemented to ensure continuous improvement. Feedback from clients, team members, and leadership plays a critical role in refining our approach and identifying areas for enhancement. Ultimately, sustained success is determined by our ability to meet or exceed targets while maintaining high standards of professionalism and collaboration.
The position requires the incumbent to demonstrate proficiency within a 12-month timeframe, encompassing the following key areas:
Achieved substantial advancements across all CEO-designated transformation initiatives, as validated by business unit sponsors regarding the excellence of the execution assistance provided.
Developed and implemented a robust transformation portfolio tracking and reporting framework, which was subsequently endorsed by both the Head of Strategy & Transformation and the CEO.
Demonstrated a reputation for reliability and effectiveness as a trusted execution partner among BU MDs and initiative sponsors, as evidenced by the quality of BU engagement rather than the sheer number of deliverables completed.
Fostered a collaborative partnership with the Transformation Analyst to facilitate the delegation of execution at the workstream level.
