Job Summary:
The Structural/Site Engineer oversees the structural design, analysis, and implementation of construction projects while managing on-site operations to ensure compliance with design specifications, quality benchmarks, and safety protocols. This position involves supervising personnel and subcontractors, optimizing resource allocation, addressing site-related challenges, and facilitating seamless communication between the project manager and field team to facilitate efficient and within-budget project execution.
Oversee a range of critical duties encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and team leadership to drive organizational success. Prepare comprehensive structural drawings utilizing industry-standard software such as AutoCAD, Refit, or equivalent applications.
Transform architectural concepts into detailed structural blueprints, ensuring precise translation of designs into actionable construction documents.
Ensure adherence to all relevant local building codes, safety regulations, and structural standards. Work closely with architects, MEP engineers, and other stakeholders to create cohesive and well-integrated design solutions.
Oversee on-site construction operations to guarantee compliance with established design specifications and stringent safety protocols.
Collaborate effectively with subcontractors, laborers, and suppliers to facilitate seamless project phase implementation.
Track project advancements and compile comprehensive daily and weekly site reports to ensure accurate documentation of progress and activities.
Effectively coordinate with consultants, subcontractors, and trades people to uphold project schedules, address technical challenges, and enhance operational efficiency.
Perform thorough site inspections and quality control assessments to confirm structural integrity and regulatory compliance.
Deliver expert technical direction to field crews while addressing and resolving engineering-related challenges.
Maintain strict adherence to all applicable local building codes, HSE standards, and regulatory mandates throughout all operational activities.
Technical Skills Required:
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++. Experience with database management systems like SQL, Oracle, or MongoDB. Familiarity with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Knowledge of DevOps practices and tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, and Jenkins. Understanding of software development methodologies like Agile or Scrum. Competency in version control systems such as Git. Ability to troubleshoot and debug complex technical issues. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IAC) tools like Terraform.
Demonstrates advanced skills in utilizing industry-standard structural design software, including STABS, STAND Pro, SAFE, SAP2000, ProtaStructure, or comparable platforms.
Proficient in utilizing AutoCAD and performing structural detailing with a high level of expertise.
Proficiency in Refit, Civil 3D, or other BIM software applications will be considered a valuable asset.
Proficiency in engineering codes, standards, and construction regulations is essential.
Proficient in creating and analyzing technical drawings, specifications, and engineering reports is required.

A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required.
Preferred Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, along with 3–5 years of experience in software development or a comparable technical role. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++, as well as experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure. Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologies is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams are essential. Additional advantageous qualifications may include certifications in cloud computing (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect) or contributions to open-source projects.
A minimum of five to seven years of pertinent experience in structural design and on-site supervision is required.
Professional affiliation with governing bodies like the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (CORE) or the Nigerian Society of Engineers (USE) is required.
Skilled in executing a wide range of projects, including residential, commercial, and infrastructure developments, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results across each sector.
Proficiency in project management methodologies is considered beneficial.
