Job Summary:
The Senior Project Risk Engineer assumes accountability for the identification, assessment, and mitigation of project risks spanning every stage of large-scale construction and infrastructure initiatives—ranging from initial design through construction, commissioning, and final verification.
This position entails designing and sustaining robust risk management frameworks and detailed risk registers, performing both qualitative and quantitative risk evaluations—such as Monte Carlo simulations—and delivering strategic recommendations to address potential risks associated with scope, schedule, cost, resource allocation, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
This role entails working closely with project teams, the PMO, and key stakeholders to proactively identify potential threats, develop robust risk mitigation strategies, and ensure projects are completed successfully and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities and Duties: Responsible for executing core functions aligned with the position, ensuring adherence to organizational standards and processes. Lead risk identification and quantification workshops, ensuring all identified risks are systematically documented in the risk register.
Construct Monte Carlo simulations to assess and quantify the risks outlined during the workshop.
Conduct comprehensive monthly evaluations of project risks and compile detailed written assessments for documentation and review.
Develop specialized Risk Management tools promptly to address emerging threats within project timelines.
Regularly engage in all QHSE Daily, Weekly, and Monthly Programs without exception.
Attend scheduled meetings focused on departmental and project advancements to provide updates, address challenges, and contribute to collaborative decision-making processes.
Observe, address, and document any hazardous work conditions or actions without delay.
Ensures the successful execution and strict compliance with Occupational Health & Safety policies.
Experience
A relevant field such as engineering, construction management, or project management requires a Bachelor’s degree as the foundational qualification.
With a minimum of eight years of experience in engineering and/or project management, you have held a functional role as a Senior Risk Engineer on mega projects.
A minimum of eight years of relevant professional experience is required.
Possesses comprehensive expertise in project controls best practices, established processes, and relevant tools.
Proficiency in utilizing Palisade @RISK for conducting cost-risk estimates is required.
Proficiency in utilizing Primavera Risk Analysis to evaluate project schedule risks is required.
Proficiency in utilizing Primavera P6 scheduling software is required.
Highly skilled in utilizing the full suite of Microsoft Office applications with expert-level efficiency.
Progressively responsible roles involving the execution of various construction projects and programs, particularly within oil and gas infrastructure and facilities sectors.
Requires a minimum of five years of hands-on experience conducting both qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, with proficiency in applicable risk assessment tools and methodologies.
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and LOOKUP. Experience with ERP systems, financial reporting, and audit preparation. Strong analytical abilities to interpret financial data and generate actionable insights. Familiarity with GAAP or IFRS standards and tax compliance regulations. Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
