An accomplished Power/Utilities Engineer is required to oversee the operation and upkeep of gas and diesel generators, electrical distribution systems, and utility equipment within an industrial setting. The ideal candidate will be tasked with managing generator operations, conducting preventive maintenance, performing troubleshooting and fault diagnosis, overseeing load management, and ensuring power system reliability—all while adhering to stringent safety and operational protocols.

Power generation management involves overseeing the efficient and reliable operation of power plants and energy facilities to ensure optimal performance, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role requires a deep understanding of power generation technologies, energy systems, and grid integration, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address operational challenges. Professionals in this field are responsible for monitoring power output, managing maintenance schedules, and implementing strategies to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability. Additionally, they must collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and regulatory bodies, to maintain seamless operations and meet organizational objectives.

Operate, monitor, and maintain gas generators, specifically Teacher models J312 and J412, alongside Caterpillar diesel generators, to guarantee uninterrupted and dependable power delivery.

Oversee the optimization of load distribution, enhance fuel efficiency, synchronize generators, and ensure proper load sharing and changeover procedures.

Conduct scheduled inspections, perform Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM), and carry out condition-based monitoring strictly following Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) guidelines.

Monitor all critical operational parameters, including temperature, pressure, fuel consumption, and running hours, and implement immediate corrective measures when any deviations are detected.

Accurately maintain generator logs, track operating hours, and document fault histories to ensure comprehensive records are kept.

Conducts comprehensive analysis to identify and resolve system faults and technical issues through systematic troubleshooting methodologies.

Diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical faults in generators, control systems, and auxiliary equipment while minimizing downtime.

Respond without delay to equipment failures, generate work orders, and execute corrective measures in adherence to established response timeframes.

Perform in-depth root cause analyses to identify the underlying causes of recurring faults and develop sustainable engineering solutions or implement necessary equipment upgrades.

Maintain a record of all faults and monitor the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) alongside the Mean Time to Repair (MTTR) metrics to ensure accurate tracking and analysis.

The Electrical Distribution & Control Systems role involves overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems critical to operations. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with safety standards, troubleshooting system malfunctions, and optimizing performance through upgrades and repairs. Candidates must possess a degree in electrical engineering or a related field, along with relevant certifications, and demonstrate proficiency in system diagnostics, automation technologies, and regulatory frameworks. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

Operate and maintain Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) power distribution panels, as well as automatic and manual changeover panels and their associated switchgear, ensuring optimal functionality and safety.

Execute switching operations with strict adherence to safety protocols while maintaining system stability throughout power transitions and generator changeovers.

Monitor and assess protection systems such as overcurrent, undervoltage, phase failure, earth fault, and overload relays to ensure their proper operation.

Ensure compliance of all electrical work with applicable standards, including those set by the IEE, NEPA/EKED guidelines, and internal safety protocols.

Utilities Equipment Management oversees the procurement, maintenance, and efficient utilization of all utility-related machinery, systems, and infrastructure to ensure uninterrupted service delivery. This role involves coordinating with vendors to secure necessary equipment, managing maintenance schedules to prevent downtime, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Additionally, the position requires monitoring equipment performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing upgrades to enhance operational efficiency. Strong organizational and analytical skills are essential, along with familiarity with utility systems and industry standards.

Oversee the operation and upkeep of compressed air systems, specifically Ingersoll Rand air compressors and dryers, to guarantee consistent supply pressure, optimal dryness levels, and high-quality air output.

Monitor and enhance energy usage across all utility systems to minimize operational expenditures effectively.

Diligently oversee the documentation of utility equipment service records while guaranteeing adherence to all required inspection and calibration timelines.

Deft oversight of critical spares and inventory management ensures uninterrupted operational continuity, with meticulous tracking of stock levels, timely replenishment, and strategic alignment to maintenance schedules. This role demands proficiency in inventory control systems, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to forecast demand based on historical data and usage patterns. Responsibilities include maintaining accurate records, conducting regular audits, identifying surplus or obsolete items, and collaborating with procurement teams to optimize stock holdings. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and the capacity to implement cost-effective solutions while adhering to regulatory and safety standards.

Maintain and regularly update the Critical Spares Register (CSR) for all generator and utility equipment.

Qualified candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field, along with at least three years of hands-on experience in a similar role. Strong analytical abilities and exceptional problem-solving skills are essential, along with proficiency in industry-standard software and tools. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. The ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to evolving priorities is critical. Additional preferred qualifications include certifications or advanced training in specialized areas, as well as a proven track record of delivering measurable results.

Holders of an HND or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Engineering—or an equivalent field—are encouraged to apply.

Requires a minimum of four to five years of practical experience in a power plant or industrial utilities setting.

Experienced professionals with a proven track record in the operation and maintenance of gas generators (preferably Teacher models) and diesel generators (preferably Caterpillar models) are sought.

Relevant technical certifications, such as those issued by City & Guilds, CORE, or OEMs for generator and electrical systems, are considered beneficial.
