The Role
As an Accountant, your primary responsibility will involve overseeing the hotel’s daily financial activities, with a strong emphasis on adherence to international hospitality accounting standards and Nigerian tax regulations. You will collaborate closely with department heads and senior leadership to enhance profitability while upholding precise financial reporting and integrity.
Oversee a comprehensive range of critical duties encompassing strategic planning, team leadership, and operational execution to align with organizational goals. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance productivity, efficiency, and compliance across all departments. Lead cross-functional initiatives to foster innovation, drive growth, and ensure seamless collaboration between teams. Monitor performance metrics, analyze data, and provide actionable insights to senior management to support informed decision-making. Manage stakeholder relationships, including clients, partners, and internal teams, to cultivate trust and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Ensure adherence to industry regulations, legal requirements, and ethical standards while maintaining a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Financial Reporting: Develop precise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss (P&L) reports.
Cost Control & Budgeting: Oversee hotel expenditures on an ongoing basis, assess variance reports, and collaborate with the Food & Beverage and Operations departments to optimize inventory management and minimize waste.
Oversee the daily night audit process to ensure precise reconciliation and recording of all room, banquet, and ancillary revenues.
Oversee the punctual submission and payment of all mandatory statutory deductions, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, and CIT, ensuring full adherence to FIRS and LIES regulatory guidelines.
Cash Flow Management: Responsible for supervising accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit management, and daily cash flow forecasting.
Develop, implement, and continuously enhance internal control policies to ensure the protection of hotel assets and mitigate the risk of fraudulent activities.
What We Are Looking For
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required.
A recognized certification such as ACA, ARCA, or CPA is an essential requirement for this role.
A minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible accounting experience within the hospitality sector is required.
A strong command of hospitality ERP systems, QuickBooks, and advanced MS Excel is required.
Exceptional analytical abilities, strong emotional intelligence, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality are essential.
