What’s the role

As a Project Environmental Advisor, your role will involve conducting comprehensive Impact Assessments—encompassing integrated Biophysical, Social, and Health dimensions—while delivering necessary Environmental Studies and furnishing discipline-specific support and assurance to the execution of GHG and Energy Efficiency Management initiatives within Skin projects.

What you’ll be doing

You will assist project teams in completing Impact Assessments (IAS), Biological Monitoring (BMs), Environmental Evaluation Studies (YES), critical habitat assessments, Biodiversity Action Plans (Baps), and other environmental studies mandated for the Deep Water (DW) business, ensuring prompt regulatory approvals. Offering specialized guidance and assistance for the execution and implementation of environmental studies, including the analysis of regulatory requirements and their implications. Accountable for compiling greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions data recording and reporting for projects, spearheading the adoption of GHG abatement initiatives, and overseeing the comprehensive GHG emissions reduction framework across projects.

Lead the comprehensive lifecycle management of Impact Assessments (IAS), Environmental Evaluation Studies (YES), Biological Monitoring (BMs), and specialized environmental research projects. Spearhead the execution of baseline, IA, PIA, ESI, and other essential studies, ensuring strict adherence to Shell’s rigorous standards, local regulatory frameworks, and international guidelines.

To oversee the seamless execution of superior environmental studies, ensure strict adherence to established study protocols, facilitate regulatory approvals through ongoing liaison with governing bodies, and administer regulatory site visits and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

Facilitate comprehensive quality scoping workshops and engage stakeholders effectively, concurrently collaborating with regulatory bodies to ensure accurate interpretation of environmental regulations.

Facilitate regulatory interactions with critical external stakeholders pertaining to Environmental studies and Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Energy management initiatives.

Deliver high-caliber, cost-efficient environmental guidance to corporate ORP, ensuring prompt acquisition of regulatory approvals and permits while formulating Environmental Management Plans (EPs) that seamlessly integrate with project design, HEMP/HAMID protocols, and environmental assessment findings.

Ensure compliance with the latest regulatory requirements and industry best practices, promote environmental stewardship, maintain and update environmental studies databases using Aromatics tools, and assist in establishing standards, procedures, manuals, and guidelines.

Experienced professionals are sought to guide junior engineers in developing robust environmental assessment skills, ensuring the creation and implementation of annual Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and Energy Efficiency (EE) management plans that meet Shell’s stringent standards.

Coordinate the development of energy baselines and databases for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy efficiency (EE), while conducting comprehensive audits and surveys to pinpoint potential energy-saving measures. Recommend tailored solutions, execute detailed techno-economic evaluations, and facilitate the adoption of industry best practices and enhancement methodologies. Provide ongoing support throughout the implementation phase to ensure sustained improvements.

Prepare greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and energy consumption forecasts, design and maintain performance dashboards for tracking progress, and oversee the monitoring and reporting of GHG reduction and energy efficiency initiatives. Evaluate the environmental impacts of new projects, integrate lessons learned from past implementations, and conduct both internal and external performance benchmarking to establish and recommend achievable targets.

What you bring

A bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline is required.

A minimum of seven years of professional experience is required, and candidates holding a postgraduate qualification or relevant professional certifications will be given preference.

Experienced professionals with a minimum of five years in environmental management are sought for this role.

Proficiency in Environmental Studies, Research, and Development is a prerequisite for this role.

Successfully executed multiple end-to-end Information Assurance (IA) studies from inception to completion across various engagements.

Demonstrates a strong ability to effectively engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.

Demonstrates a strong grasp of greenhouse gas (GHG) management principles and a thorough understanding of the Impact Assessment (IA) process, including regulatory frameworks and procedures.

Skilled in data analysis and adept at applying project management methodologies such as business planning and evaluation techniques.

Grasp the critical importance of carbon dioxide (CO₂) and greenhouse gas (GHG) management in aligning with our company’s strategic objectives.

Extensive expertise in customer relationship management and environmental sustainability practices is required.

Proven capability to thrive in both autonomous and collaborative team environments while contributing to multidisciplinary projects.
