Job Summary

We are looking for a meticulous and highly experienced Senior Accountant to oversee the accounting and financial operations of our business in Kano.

The successful applicant must demonstrate advanced proficiency in financial reporting, taxation, payroll administration, statutory compliance, and ERP systems, enabling them to deliver precise financial insights that enhance strategic business decisions.

Candidates are required to possess practical experience as a Senior Accountant, specifically within an FMCG setting, and exhibit a comprehensive knowledge of accounting procedures and regulatory compliance in Nigeria.

Oversee the execution of critical tasks central to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and overall performance within the designated department. Monitor progress through key performance indicators, providing data-driven insights to stakeholders to support informed decision-making. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline processes, resolve challenges, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Maintain compliance with industry regulations, internal policies, and best practices to mitigate risks and uphold organizational integrity. Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and fostering productive relationships. Lead and mentor team members, promoting professional growth, accountability, and a high-performance work environment. Prepare and present detailed reports, presentations, and analyses to senior leadership, highlighting achievements, areas for improvement, and strategic recommendations.

Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established standards. Review these documents thoroughly to validate data integrity and identify any discrepancies before finalizing them for distribution.

Responsible for managing daily accounting functions while maintaining the precision and reliability of financial documentation.

Administer payroll processing with meticulous attention to detail, guaranteeing precise salary calculations, accurate deductions, and timely remittances.

Pension contributions represent a mandatory financial commitment, typically calculated as a percentage of an employee’s remuneration, which employers are required to contribute towards retirement savings plans. These contributions are governed by statutory regulations, varying by jurisdiction, and ensure long-term financial security for employees upon retirement. Employers must accurately calculate, report, and remit these payments to pension providers within specified deadlines to remain compliant with legal obligations. Failure to meet these requirements may result in penalties, audits, or other regulatory actions.

Company Income Tax (CIT) and all relevant tax obligations must be accurately calculated, filed, and remitted in compliance with regulatory standards.

Collaborate with pertinent regulatory bodies to guarantee complete adherence to all statutory obligations.

Facilitate and assist with both internal and external audit processes to ensure compliance and operational integrity.

Oversee cash flow management and provide assistance in budgetary planning and financial forecasting initiatives.

Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure the proper documentation of all financial transactions in accordance with established standards and procedures.

Ensure the integrity and effectiveness of internal controls to protect company assets and mitigate financial risks.

Develop and maintain meticulously organized schedules and documentation essential for tax audits and regulatory assessments.

Provide guidance and support to junior accounting personnel as required, fostering their professional development and ensuring adherence to established accounting standards.

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of experience in software development or a comparable role. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential, and familiarity with modern frameworks and tools is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work effectively in collaborative environments are necessary. Additionally, prior experience with cloud platforms, DevOps practices, or agile methodologies is preferred.

A bachelor’s degree (B.Sc.) or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required.

Seeking a candidate with a minimum of 4 to 7 years of comprehensive accounting experience, with a proven track record serving in a Senior Accountant role within the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry.

ICAN qualification is an essential requirement, as is holding a fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA) designation.

Proficient in navigating Nigerian tax laws and ensuring adherence to statutory compliance obligations.

Responsible for overseeing and executing accurate payroll processing, ensuring timely and correct disbursement of employee compensation. Manages tax withholdings, deductions, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintains meticulous records, reconciles payroll discrepancies, and generates detailed reports for management review. Collaborates with HR and finance teams to verify employee data, such as hours worked, benefits, and leave balances. Requires proficiency in payroll software, strong attention to detail, and adherence to strict confidentiality protocols.

Performing tax calculations and ensuring accurate and timely remittances.

Required expertise in Microsoft Excel, with advanced capabilities including Pivot Tables, LOOKUP/LOOKUP functions, conditional IF logic, data analysis methodologies, and report generation.

Proficiency in utilizing ERP systems through practical application is essential, with familiarity in platforms such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, Oracle, NetSuite, or comparable ERP solutions being required.
