YES Tech Limited, a pioneering Nigerian edtech startup, is developing an innovative video learning platform tailored to secondary school students spanning JSS1 to SS3. Our platform aligns seamlessly with the WAEC, NECK, BEE, and NERD curricula, providing students with an accessible and interactive resource to enhance exam readiness and subject mastery—anywhere, anytime.

We are currently in the dynamic phase of assembling our inaugural cohort of educators, content reviewers, and academic leaders to propel the platform toward its launch. Our search is focused on an accomplished arts and humanities educator who will spearhead quality assurance and uphold academic integrity within our humanities content from the outset.

The Role

As the Head of Arts & Humanities Department, you will serve as the academic authority overseeing the entirety of non-scientific materials created by YES, guiding each stage from script approval to the final review and release of videos.

Your responsibilities will encompass overseeing a diverse range of subjects, including the following key areas:

The position requires a strong foundation in English Language and Literature-in-English, ensuring candidates possess the necessary academic qualifications and subject-matter expertise. Responsibilities include teaching, curriculum development, assessment design, and fostering a dynamic learning environment that encourages critical thinking and literary appreciation. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in language instruction, literary analysis, and pedagogical strategies tailored to diverse student needs. Additionally, the role demands a commitment to continuous professional growth and the ability to engage students in meaningful discussions about linguistic and literary themes.

Government, History, and Civic Education are integral disciplines that foster an understanding of societal structures, governance systems, and the evolution of human civilization. These fields equip students with critical thinking and analytical skills necessary to navigate complex political landscapes and contribute meaningfully to democratic processes. Proficiency in these subjects enables individuals to comprehend the foundations of law, policy, and civic responsibility, thereby preparing them for roles in public service, education, research, or related professions. A strong foundation in these areas is often essential for careers in government agencies, non-profit organizations, educational institutions, and fields requiring historical or civic literacy.

We seek a candidate with a robust background in economics and commerce, possessing the ability to analyze market trends, interpret economic data, and develop strategic financial solutions. The ideal applicant should demonstrate proficiency in quantitative analysis, economic modeling, and financial forecasting, alongside strong problem-solving skills and a keen understanding of global economic policies. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive economic research, advising on investment strategies, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize financial performance. Additionally, the role requires expertise in data interpretation, regulatory compliance, and effective communication of complex economic concepts to stakeholders.

Christian Religious Studies (CRS) and Islamic Religious Studies (IRS) encompass the academic examination of Christianity and Islam, respectively, covering their histories, doctrines, practices, and cultural impacts. These disciplines aim to foster interfaith understanding, critical thinking, and ethical reasoning among students. Coursework typically includes scriptural analysis, comparative religion, and historical context, while also addressing contemporary issues such as religious pluralism and social justice. Educators in these fields are expected to guide learners in exploring diverse faith traditions, promoting tolerance, and encouraging respectful dialogue across belief systems.

Fluent proficiency is required in Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and other relevant indigenous languages, as applicable.

Geography, focusing on the humanities aspects of the discipline, examines social, cultural, economic, and political dynamics across various spatial contexts. This field analyzes how human societies interact with their environments, emphasizing themes such as urbanization, migration, cultural landscapes, and geopolitical relationships. It integrates qualitative and quantitative methodologies to explore spatial patterns, societal structures, and historical developments, often employing tools like GIS (Geographic Information Systems), remote sensing, and archival research. Researchers in this domain contribute to understanding global challenges—including climate change, inequality, and globalization—while informing policy decisions related to sustainability, regional planning, and social equity. Proficiency in critical analysis, interdisciplinary research, and strong communication skills is essential for advancing knowledge in human geography.
