ABOUT THE JOB

The Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASH) Assistant at Ekklesiyar An’UWA a Nigeria (EYE) serves as a field-based professional dedicated to expanding access to comprehensive sexual and reproductive health information and services for women and girls in Northeast Nigeria, specifically in Polka, Gaza Local Government Area (L.G.A) of Born State. Key responsibilities include improving service accessibility, reinforcing referral pathways for adolescent healthcare, and delivering capacity-building initiatives for partners and staff on gender-based violence (GBV) and ASH topics to foster improved health outcomes among youth.

LOCATION: PULKA

Facilitates the execution of core duties encompassing strategic planning, operational oversight, and team leadership to ensure organizational objectives are achieved. Oversees the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and performance metrics to enhance productivity and efficiency. Fosters a collaborative work environment by coordinating cross-functional teams and delegating responsibilities in alignment with company goals. Monitors progress through regular assessments, identifies areas for improvement, and implements corrective measures as needed. Manages budgetary allocations, resource utilization, and stakeholder communications to maintain accountability and transparency. Ensures compliance with industry regulations, internal standards, and best practices to mitigate risks and uphold corporate integrity.

The ASH Assistant will handle various duties, encompassing both specified and unspecified responsibilities that naturally extend from those explicitly outlined.

Facilitate group-based educational workshops and one-on-one counselling sessions focused on sexual and reproductive health services.

Facilitate in-depth sexuality education sessions as well as parent group sessions tailored for adolescents and their caregivers.

Deliver structured mentorship to Community Health volunteers during educational sessions focused on Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health services.

Conduct safe motherhood sessions specifically tailored for pregnant adolescents to ensure their well-being and that of their unborn children.

Adapt all pertinent ASH IEC materials to align with the program’s facilities and oversee the reprinting of essential ASH publications to facilitate effective dissemination.

Contribute to the planning and execution of community-based sensitization initiatives focused on adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASH) services.

Organize campaigns related to ASRH

Facilitate structured community dialogue sessions engaging religious and community leaders to introduce adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASH) services, including youth-friendly corners, while securing their endorsement and active participation.

During health coordination meetings, you will deliver updates on project progress along with relevant program data to stakeholders.

Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports ensuring comprehensive documentation and analysis of ongoing operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required. Minimum of 5 years of experience in software development, with proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++. Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and DevOps practices is highly preferred. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential. Familiarity with Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines is advantageous.

A diploma or Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant scientific discipline or Public Health is required.

With a minimum of two years of hands-on experience in implementing Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASH) programs during emergency situations, the ideal candidate will bring a strong background to this role.

Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, and a high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
