This position is a hybrid role, requiring the chosen candidate to work on-site for a minimum of three to four days each week. The candidate will be stationed at our Academy located in Granada, Lagos State.
You will be responsible for instructing courses on pattern drafting, garment construction, sewing techniques, fabric knowledge, and the fundamentals of the fashion business.
To maintain and enhance the academy’s curriculum, ensuring students achieve established learning objectives and comply with industry standards.
Lead practical sessions, workshops, and student projects, offering constructive feedback on fittings, necessary corrections, and final finishes.
Evaluate student performance, provide individualized instruction, and assist students in developing portfolios tailored for industry placements.
Ensure classroom discipline, monitor attendance records, and oversee the safe and proper use of studio equipment and machinery.
Design and administer assignments, assessments, and culminating projects to evaluate student progress. Evaluate and grade student submissions with fairness and impartiality.
To ensure the course content remains pertinent and engaging for both Nigeria and diaspora markets, stay well-informed about the latest fashion trends, methodologies, and tools.
JOB REQUIREMENT
A bachelor’s degree or professional certification in Fashion Design, Clothing & Textile, or a related field is required.
Requires a minimum of two to three years of practical involvement in fashion design roles.
Proficiency in the operation of both manual and industrial sewing machines, along with expertise in pattern development, grading techniques, and couture finishing methods, is essential.
Familiarity with fashion illustration design tools and fabric painting techniques is considered a valuable asset.
Proficient communication skills, a patient demeanor when working with novices, a creative mindset, and the capacity to inspire and encourage students are essential qualities for this role.
Able to present sample garments or completed collections that you have designed and constructed.
