Job Summary

The Hospitalist oversees the comprehensive care of inpatients from admission to discharge, prioritizing high-quality, coordinated medical services to enhance patient outcomes and optimize hospital resource utilization.

The Hospitalist collaborates with diverse healthcare teams to oversee the treatment of acute and chronic conditions in the hospital environment.

The position demands a blend of clinical proficiency, operational effectiveness, and seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams to elevate patient safety, satisfaction, and care continuity.

Oversee a range of critical duties including the development, implementation, and evaluation of strategic initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and team performance. Collaborate with cross-functional departments to align goals and ensure seamless execution of projects. Monitor key performance indicators to assess progress and identify areas for improvement, providing data-driven insights to stakeholders. Lead training programs to upskill employees and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Prepare comprehensive reports to communicate findings, recommendations, and strategic plans to senior management and relevant parties.

Deliver thorough, patient-centered medical treatment to individuals admitted for care, ensuring their comprehensive healthcare needs are addressed with expertise and compassion.

Perform comprehensive initial evaluations of patients, design individualized treatment strategies, and oversee continuous care management throughout the treatment process.

Perform daily patient rounds and meticulously record clinical observations.

Evaluate patient response to treatment on an ongoing basis and modify therapeutic interventions accordingly to ensure optimal outcomes.

Oversee the management of acute illnesses, deteriorations of chronic conditions, and post-operative medical care to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Attend immediately to urgent situations involving inpatients and instances of clinical decline to ensure timely intervention and patient safety.

Facilitate the implementation of evidence-based clinical practices while strictly adhering to established protocols to maintain high standards of patient care.

Supervise all aspects of the admission procedures, encompassing administrative tasks and record-keeping responsibilities.

Conduct daily ward rounds and guarantee prompt evaluation of every patient.

Facilitate comprehensive discharge planning processes to promote seamless and secure patient transitions from care settings.

Draft discharge summaries, prescriptions, and aftercare strategies to ensure patient continuity of care upon transition from facility to home.

Work alongside a multidisciplinary team comprising specialists, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive care.

Collaborate with various departments to initiate referrals and consultations efficiently.

Facilitate seamless transitions of care across emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings to maintain consistent and high-quality patient management.

Engage in collaborative multidisciplinary case reviews and discussions to ensure comprehensive evaluation and decision-making.

Formulate evidence-backed protocols and guidelines, then provide training to medical officers and nursing staff on their practical implementation in patient care settings.

Consistently follow established clinical protocols, adhere to relevant guidelines, and implement evidence-based practices in all patient care activities.

Engage in quality enhancement projects and systematic clinical evaluations to ensure adherence to established standards and best practices.

Monitor quality enhancement and patient safety metrics, encompassing medication errors, readmissions, and adverse events, among other key indicators.

Adhere rigorously to established infection prevention and control protocols to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.

Document clinical incidents and engage in root cause analysis (RCA) to identify underlying causes and prevent future occurrences.

Ensure medical records are maintained with precision, thoroughness, and promptness at all times.

Demonstrate clear and compassionate communication with patients and their families, providing comprehensive explanations of diagnoses, treatment options, and expected outcomes.

Facilitate seamless transitions between shifts by delivering clear and comprehensive handovers to ensure continuity of operations.

Facilitate compliance with accreditation standards, such as those set forth by the Joint Commission International.

Maintain transparent communication with patients and their families to provide accurate information about diagnoses, treatment plans, and expected outcomes.

Consistently exhibit empathy, mutual respect, and professionalism across all professional engagements and communications.

Facilitate the seamless transition of patients through the care continuum, from initial intake to final discharge, ensuring efficiency and continuity of service.

Contribute to the enhancement of patient satisfaction metrics, specifically Customer Satisfaction (CSAT) scores, and patient experience evaluations, such as Net Promoter Score (NPS).

Oversee the performance and activities of medical officers to ensure adherence to protocols and standards.

Engage actively in the clinical education and mentoring of junior doctors, providing hands-on guidance and support to facilitate their professional development.

Facilitate the professional development and skill enhancement of clinical staff through structured training initiatives and personalized mentorship programs.

Attend and contribute to clinical meetings, case reviews, ecosystem grand rounds, and various departmental activities.

Participate in ongoing professional development initiatives to maintain current knowledge of medical practices and guidelines.

Ensure compliance with established hospital policies and clinical governance frameworks to uphold standards of care and operational integrity.

Support bed allocation processes and enhance patient flow efficiency.

Take part in on-call schedules and shift rotations as required.

Requirements

Earned a medical degree, specifically an MBBS or equivalent, from a recognized and accredited academic institution.

Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYC) is a prerequisite for this position.

Clinical practice must encompass a minimum of five to seven years of hands-on experience in a clinical setting.

Holds a current, unrestricted medical license to practice.

Proven proficiency in clinical assessment and diagnostic evaluation is required.

Proficient in advanced life support techniques is essential.

Proficient in computer applications and systems is required.

Proven expertise in fostering clear, concise, and effective communication, along with the capacity to build strong, collaborative relationships.
