The primary duties associated with this position encompass a comprehensive range of tasks essential to the role’s success. You will be responsible for overseeing key operational processes, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and maintaining high standards of efficiency. As a senior project team member, you will collaborate closely with seasoned operation leaders on intricate transactions, playing a pivotal role in both project structuring and execution. Your responsibilities will encompass supporting the operation leader in managing the project team while contributing to all facets of the project’s development and implementation.

Perform portfolio monitoring, value creation, and reporting tasks, offering strategic guidance and supervision to junior team members as a senior project team member. Collaborate with the operation leader to execute all assigned responsibilities effectively and provide constructive insights to enhance portfolio performance and team development.

In collaboration with pertinent Bank departments and, where relevant, Banking country teams, you will play a key role in driving policy dialogue—leading initiatives at the project level or supporting broader national-level efforts. You will facilitate these processes by supplying essential resources, including relevant data, documentation, or active participation in meetings, to secure grants and technical cooperation funding. These funds will serve to complement investment projects or fulfill the objectives of policy dialogue initiatives.

Business Development: Collaborate with marketing and business development initiatives, partnering closely with sector and advisory teams within the designated sector and geographical markets to cultivate strong market relationships, thereby fostering a diverse pipeline of deals and enhancing the cross-selling of the Bank’s expertise.

Staff Management: Collaborate on the recruitment, onboarding, training, and professional growth of junior bankers in partnership with the Director, Associate Directors, and Senior Bankers. Engage them across all stages of the project lifecycle—including appraisal, execution, implementation, monitoring, and business development—to uphold high standards of work quality and maintain balanced workloads within the team. Further, support their progression in skills and capabilities.

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Relevant certifications or demonstrated expertise in the specified domain are strongly preferred. Prior to work experience in a comparable role is essential, with at least three years in a managerial or technical capacity. Proficiency in industry-standard software, tools, or programming languages is required. Excellent communication and organizational skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The ability to analyze complex data, solve problems efficiently, and meet tight deadlines is critical. Candidates should exhibit a proactive approach, adaptability to evolving technologies, and a commitment to continuous learning.

A bachelor’s degree or higher—or equivalent professional experience—in the relevant field is required.

Professional qualifications such as ACA, CFA, ARCA, or CIA are considered advantageous.

Proficiency in quantitative and numerical analysis is essential, enabling the interpretation of financial data and the development of robust financial models.

A minimum of five years of comprehensive financial industry experience is required, preferably within an investment or commercial bank, private equity firm, asset management company, or an auditing/financial consultancy adhering to international standards.

Gained hands-on experience in executing and directing intricate transactions across every stage of the project lifecycle.

Proven expertise in the Nigerian and broader West African financial landscape, supported by practical involvement in banking and financial services, alongside a nuanced grasp of local market dynamics and evolving trends. Depending on the role’s requirements, prior industry or regional experience—particularly in understanding country-specific, regional, or sectoral trends—may be essential.

Credit analysis expertise is required, including the capacity to evaluate financial statements and apply both local and international accounting standards to assess creditworthiness.

Proficient in computer applications with strong familiarity in Microsoft Office and spreadsheet tools, particularly those equipped with financial analysis and modeling capabilities.

Demonstrates a strong grasp of pertinent systems and operational workflows.

Skilled in effectively engaging and collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment and support for organizational objectives. Demonstrates the ability to build strong relationships, communicate clearly, and address diverse interests to foster productive partnerships.
