Background

International Alert, a global peace building organization, collaborates with communities, governmental bodies, civil society groups, and development partners to foster sustainable peace and mitigate the root causes of conflict. In alignment with its continuous initiatives in Nigeria, International Alert is seeking skilled and seasoned consultants to fulfill the following assignments.

Conduct a comprehensive evaluation of radio listenership patterns across Sokoto State to determine audience preferences, engagement levels, and demographic trends.

International Alert is seeking a seasoned consultant to perform a comprehensive Radio Listenership Assessment in Sokoto State. This evaluation will analyze radio audience reach, listener behavior, most-favored stations, content inclinations, and effective communication channels across designated communities. The resultant data will serve as the foundation for developing informed communication strategies, enabling the successful dissemination of peace building initiatives, social cohesion efforts, and community development messaging.

Seeking candidates with a proven track record in similar roles, demonstrated through at least five years of relevant experience. Ideal applicants will possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in industry-standard software, and the ability to collaborate effectively in team settings are essential. Familiarity with project management methodologies and a commitment to continuous learning are also highly valued. To conduct climate vulnerability assessments in Benue and Sokoto States, the selected candidate will evaluate environmental risks, socioeconomic factors, and infrastructure resilience to identify key vulnerabilities. This role requires expertise in climate science, data collection methodologies, and risk assessment frameworks, along with proficiency in GIS and statistical analysis tools. Responsibilities include field data gathering, stakeholder engagement, and the development of actionable recommendations to enhance climate adaptation strategies. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to synthesize complex information into clear reports are essential for success in this position.

International Alert is seeking a seasoned consultant to perform a comprehensive Climate Vulnerability Assessment across Benue and Sokoto States. This evaluation will pinpoint climate-induced risks, vulnerabilities, and adaptive capacities, while also examining the interplay between climate change, livelihood strategies, natural resource governance, and conflict dynamics. The resulting insights will directly inform program development and reinforce evidence-based approaches to climate resilience and peace building interventions.

Seeking a candidate with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a similar role, along with a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Strong proficiency in project management software and advanced Excel skills are essential. Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal, are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The ideal applicant will demonstrate a proven track record of meeting deadlines and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

The consultant must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

A master’s or doctoral degree in Environmental Science, Climate Change, Geography, Natural Resource Management, Development Studies, Agriculture, Social Sciences, or a closely aligned field is required.

Proficiency in executing climate vulnerability assessments, resilience evaluations, environmental studies, or comparable research initiatives is essential.

A robust grasp of climate adaptation principles, resilience-focused programming, and the intersection between climate dynamics and security concerns is required.

Proficiency in operating within fragile, conflict-affected, and climate-vulnerable environments is required.

Proven expertise in conducting both quantitative and qualitative research with precision and depth.

Strong proficiency in analytical thinking and report preparation is required.

Proficiency in Benue and/or Sokoto States is highly desirable.
