Our client, a prestigious Afro fusion restolounge situated in Kate, Lagos, is seeking a Head Chef who possesses both formal culinary training and a distinctive creative flair. Candidates must meet the highest standards of excellence. Applications will only be considered from individuals who hold a qualification from an accredited culinary institution.

What you will do:

Craft the complete menu, from initial concept through final implementation, with a focus on Afro fusion cuisine.

Craft innovative dishes, seasonal specials, and immersive tasting experiences that showcase creativity and cultural richness on an ongoing basis.

Spearhead the development, mentorship, and oversight of the kitchen staff, ensuring each dish meets the same high standards of excellence across every service.

Foster an environment characterized by discipline, accountability, and ongoing enhancement among all kitchen personnel.

Deliver ongoing training programs to enhance the team’s proficiency in techniques, standards, and newly introduced menu offerings.

Oversee kitchen inventory with precision, encompassing stock level tracking, procurement processes, vendor management, and minimizing waste.

Prepare comprehensive and punctual reports detailing kitchen performance metrics, food costs, inventory levels, and operational challenges for executive assessment.

Responsibilities include managing food costing, overseeing the kitchen budget, and ensuring menu profitability in partnership with the restaurant manager.

Ensure unwavering adherence to rigorous standards in food preparation, presentation, hygiene, and portion control.

Maintain strict adherence to all food safety and health regulations at all times.

This position mandates onsite presence, with a requirement of at least five days each week. It involves active, in-person leadership within the kitchen environment rather than remote supervision.

What we are looking for:

A recognized culinary school must award a formal qualification; this requirement is absolute.

Seeking a seasoned culinary professional with a minimum of seven years of hands-on kitchen experience, including at least three years in a leadership capacity such as Head Chef or Executive Chef.

Demonstrates a solid background in Afro fusion culinary arts, supported by a well-documented collection of innovative menu designs.

Exceptional leadership and team development abilities, demonstrated through the successful assembly and leadership of high-performing kitchen staff.

Proven track record in delivering effective training programs, specializing in onboarding new hires and enhancing the skills of kitchen personnel at every level.

Accomplished reporting abilities are essential, enabling precise and reliable tracking of expenses, inventory levels, and kitchen operational efficiency on an ongoing basis.

Proficient in food costing, kitchen budgeting, and stock control methodologies.

A strong enthusiasm for driving innovation, coupled with the capacity to challenge conventional limits while maintaining a steadfast commitment to the foundational idea.

Maintains rigorous standards of cleanliness, presentation, and discipline.

Consistently performs well in high-pressure, fast-paced service environments with high transaction volumes.
