Position Overview

Sea learn Academy is now inviting applications for the position of Junior Lecturer in Maritime Studies, a role that requires a distinguished candidate with exceptional qualifications.

This position is well-suited for driven professionals in the early stages of their academic journey, particularly those with expertise in maritime fields and a strong dedication to education and knowledge sharing.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in delivering premium maritime education, provide support to senior faculty members, and enhance student learning outcomes and achievements.

Oversee and execute essential duties to ensure organizational efficiency, including managing daily operations, coordinating team activities, and maintaining compliance with company policies and industry standards. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, streamline processes, and drive continuous improvement across departments. Lead cross-functional projects, fostering collaboration between teams to achieve shared objectives and measurable outcomes. Monitor performance metrics, analyze data, and provide actionable insights to senior leadership to inform decision-making. Additionally, oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and risk management to optimize operational effectiveness while adhering to financial and regulatory constraints.

Collaborate with senior faculty to contribute to curriculum design and the creation and refinement of courseware and instructional materials.

Under supervision, design and produce instructional materials while delivering engaging lectures, presentations, tutorials, and hands-on practical sessions in key maritime disciplines, including navigation, seamanship, cargo handling, environmental protection, maritime safety, and related fields.

Assist in designing and evaluating student coursework and examinations, ensuring they meet established academic standards and learning objectives.

Deliver comprehensive academic assistance to students to enhance their learning experiences and academic performance.

Stay current with maritime industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Engage in collaborative departmental meetings, contribute to academic planning initiatives, support quality assurance processes, and partake in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Participate in academic pursuits and actively seek avenues for research initiatives as well as advanced professional development.

Candidates should possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least three years of professional experience in a similar role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines is expected. Prior experience in [specific industry or field, if applicable] is preferred but not mandatory.

A Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Nautical Science, or a comparable discipline is required, with a Master’s degree—or one currently in progress—considered advantageous.

Seagoing experience spanning at least five years is required. Applicants must possess a valid Master (F.G.) or Chief Officer Certificate of Competency issued by a reputable Flag administration. The role necessitates prior service in a management-level capacity, either as a Master or Chief Officer.

Possesses a certification endorsed by Administration for either the “Train the Trainer” or “Train the Simulator Trainer” program.

Professional experience in teaching or training, whether formal or informal, is highly beneficial.

Demonstrates a solid grasp of global maritime regulations, particularly the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification, and Watch keeping for Seafarers (STCW).

Demonstrates a commitment to advancing one’s academic credentials and actively participating in ongoing professional growth initiatives.

A strong understanding of educational pedagogy and instructional design principles for learning courses would be beneficial.

Proficiency in utilizing maritime simulators and e-learning platforms is required.

Demonstrates strong collaboration skills in diverse academic and multicultural settings.

Demonstrates an unwavering dedication to upholding excellence in both teaching methodologies and learning outcomes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality educational experiences.

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, along with outstanding interpersonal and presentation proficiencies.

Experienced in leveraging technology, with a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and a variety of software tools and applications.

Skilled professional with demonstrated expertise in executing MASS initiatives, particularly those involving simulation-based research methodologies.

Conducting ongoing scholarly investigations in the field of maritime studies.
