The Executive Director of Technical, reporting directly to the Board and MD/CEO, will bear full responsibility for driving strategic growth, ensuring operational excellence, overseeing technical underwriting, and maintaining the financial performance of our entire life insurance portfolio.

Oversee a range of critical duties including managing project timelines, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations. Facilitate communication between departments to streamline workflows and enhance operational efficiency. Monitor team performance, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development initiatives to foster a high-performing workforce. Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve organizational objectives while maintaining budgetary constraints and resource allocation. Lead by example to cultivate a positive and productive work environment that encourages collaboration and innovation.

Strategic Leadership: Spearhead the life business plan to optimize market share potential.

Technical Operations: Responsible for managing life underwriting processes, claims administration systems, and actuarial valuation frameworks.

Spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing customer service delivery through digital transformation strategies.

Drive the expansion of retail operations, corporate alliances, and bancassurance partnerships to strengthen market reach and revenue streams.

Ensure full compliance with NICOL guidelines, corporate governance codes, and all relevant local regulations.

As the Financial Steward, your role will involve strategically enhancing investment approaches for life funds and overseeing the department’s profit and loss accountability.

Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a related field, with at least 2 years holding a managerial role, is required. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is mandatory, and a master’s degree is strongly preferred. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities are necessary for interacting with stakeholders and team members. Candidates must demonstrate leadership experience and the capacity to drive project success through strategic planning and execution.

With a demonstrated track record spanning over 15 years within the insurance sector, including at least 5 to 8 years in a senior executive capacity, the ideal candidate will bring extensive industry experience to the role.

Should demonstrate extensive technical proficiency along with applicable industry experience.

A bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Finance, or a related business field is required. Possession of an MBA or M.Sc. would be considered beneficial.

Must hold either a Fellow or Associate designation from the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (COIN).

To qualify, candidates must satisfy all NICOL “Fit and Proper” requirements for board-level appointments.

Exceptional proficiency in risk management, digital insurance ecosystems, and local market dynamics is essential.
