We seek a skilled and seasoned Data & Digital Engineer to drive business value through data innovation and emerging technologies, particularly AI and hyper-automation. This role involves identifying, developing, and executing high-impact opportunities that deliver measurable benefits. The individual will align business strategy with data-driven solutions, evaluate the potential of new technologies and trends, and partner with Data Value Owners to achieve key business benefit realization goals. Additionally, the Data & Digital Engineer will spearhead a dynamic Group DIY (Do-It-Yourself) initiative and developer community, oversee other Data & Analytics projects, and mentor Group DIY Coaches. Furthermore, the position will champion a data-driven and automation mindset across the organization—not only within Daystar IDT but also among business stakeholders in the Lagos, Nigeria office.

Oversee a range of critical duties to ensure operational excellence and strategic alignment, including managing cross-functional teams, optimizing workflows, and driving key initiatives to completion. Develop and maintain robust data models that precisely capture data structures and interrelationships. Design tables for customer delivery, including the identification of relevant data sources and inputs, and propose enhancements where necessary. Create data orchestration frameworks that outline required data transformations at each stage of the workflow, along with scenarios for initiating these transformations. Employ sophisticated modelling methodologies and tools to produce detailed visual representations, such as entity-relationship diagrams, dimensional models, and data flow diagrams.
Project Oversight: Direct the development and deployment of data models, data flows, and emerging technologies, including AI and Hyper-automation, within Daystar. Partner with business analysts, data engineers, and key stakeholders to ensure alignment between data models and both business requirements and project goals. Conduct preliminary assessments of implementation feasibility by preparing draft data flow diagrams and gathering time and effort estimates from engineering teams.
Demonstrate a foundational understanding of data platforms and the broader strategic technology landscape. Leverage AWS and Power BI to efficiently acquire, transform, and visualize data. Apply industry-leading best practices for robust data management, stringent governance, and strict compliance adherence.
Engage collaboratively with business stakeholders and end-users to thoroughly grasp their data and KPI requirements. Convert business needs into tailored technical solutions, offering expert guidance and actionable insights to enhance data utilization and reporting efficiency.
Establish and execute robust data assurance protocols to uphold exceptional standards of data quality and integrity.

Requires a minimum of five years of professional experience in data modelling, data engineering, or business analysis.
Demonstrates proficiency in developing and refining intricate queries, along with a solid understanding of data manipulation, processing, and deriving meaningful insights from extensive, disparate datasets.
Proven expertise in foundational data initiatives, including data modeling, data quality management, data governance frameworks, assessments of data maturity, and strategic data planning, to effectively support critical business stakeholders.
Required expertise includes, but is not limited to, proficiency in Power Apps (mandatory) and Power BI (mandatory), along with demonstrated experience in Azure Machine Learning, Altered, Python, and AI Builder.
ITIL certification is strongly preferred for this role.
Preferred certification in data modeling or an equivalent domain.
Proficiency in Agile methodologies and familiarity with tools like Visual Studio Team Services (VSTS) are required for facilitating effective scrum meetings.
Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing cloud technologies, specifically Azure and AWS, as well as MongoDB, is required.
