The Role
The deckhand/onboard mechanic will be responsible for:
Grease and clean machinery
Perform simple maintenance tasks
Load and unload cargo
Perform other tasks as instructed by the captain
Responsibilities
Assist the captain in safe vessel operations
Enforce safety protocols, including life jackets
Ensure safety of passengers
Coordinate safe loading and offloading of cargos
Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks
Monitor engine performance and report abnormalities immediately
Requirements
Minimum secondary school certificate
Valid STCW and MEA certificate
1-3 years’ experience in marine operations preferred
Proven skills in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining marine engines
Basic first aid and fire safety training is an advantage
Physically fit and able to handle manual tasks
Good communication and teamwork skills.
