The Role
As an Accountant, your responsibilities will include overseeing the hotel’s daily financial activities, ensuring adherence to global hospitality accounting standards and Nigerian tax regulations. You will collaborate with department heads and senior leadership to enhance profitability while upholding rigorous financial precision.
Oversee and execute a range of critical duties, including analyzing complex data sets to identify key trends and insights, developing strategic recommendations to enhance operational efficiency, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement solutions that drive business growth. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies while maintaining high standards of accuracy and professionalism in all deliverables. Participate in high-level meetings to present findings, align stakeholders, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Additionally, mentor junior team members, delegate tasks effectively, and monitor progress to guarantee timely and successful project completion.
Prepare precise monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including profit and loss reports.
Monitor expenditures and oversee budgeting to ensure financial discipline within the hotel, analyzing financial variances to identify trends and discrepancies. Collaborate closely with Food & Beverage and Operations teams to optimize inventory management, minimize waste, and enhance cost-efficiency across operations.
Oversee the nightly audit process for revenue reconciliation, meticulously verifying that all room, banquet, and ancillary revenues are accurately recorded and balanced.
Tax & Compliance: Ensure all statutory deductions, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, and CIT, are filed and remitted punctually in full adherence to FIRS and LIES regulatory guidelines.
Cash Flow Management: Responsible for overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit management, and the daily forecasting of cash flow.
Uphold and enhance internal control policies to protect hotel assets and mitigate the risk of fraudulent activities.
What We Are Looking For
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required.
ACA, ARCA, or CPA certification is an essential requirement for this role.
A minimum of five to seven years of progressive accounting experience within the hospitality sector is required.
Proficiency in hospitality ERP systems, QuickBooks, and advanced Microsoft Excel is required.
