Conduct a thorough examination of customer onboarding files and credit documentation to verify adherence to Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations prior to loan disbursement.
Monitor transactions on a daily basis, identifying any irregular patterns and promptly highlighting them. Escalate concerns as necessary and prepare and submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) when mandated.
Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities such as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), facilitating punctual and precise submissions of all required documentation, including returns, reports, and responses to inquiries.
Revise, implement, and enforce compliance policies to ensure alignment with evolving regulatory mandates and organizational process improvements.
Perform regular compliance audits across every department to detect any deficiencies and implement necessary corrective measures.
Conduct comprehensive internal reviews to assess potential compliance violations, meticulously compiling evidence and proposing appropriate disciplinary actions or enhanced control mechanisms.
Develop and facilitate specialized compliance training programs tailored specifically for frontline employees engaged in customer interactions and transactional duties.
Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a Master’s degree strongly preferred. At least five years of progressive experience in the industry is mandatory, encompassing roles such as project management, strategic planning, or direct oversight of operations. Proficiency in industry-specific software and tools is essential, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Demonstrated leadership in guiding teams and driving process improvements is a key requirement. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels. Prior experience in a fast-paced environment and a track record of delivering measurable results are additional expectations.
A recognized academic qualification, such as a Bachelor’s Degree or a Higher National Diploma in Accounting or a closely related discipline, from a reputable and accredited educational institution.
Seeking candidates with at least four to five years of hands-on experience in compliance, risk management, or internal control auditing, specifically within financial institutions such as lending organizations, microfinance firms, fintech companies, or banks.
Proficiency in implementing and navigating Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) frameworks, alongside expertise in executing Know Your Customer (KYC) protocols and overseeing transaction monitoring systems, is essential.
Proficiency in CBN regulations, reporting obligations, and Nigerian Financial Standards is required.
Proficiency in credit processes and the loan lifecycle within a financial institution is highly advantageous.
Chartered Accountant certification is a mandatory requirement for this role.
