ACO Nigeria is in search of an accomplished, results-oriented Business Development Manager to spearhead strategic expansion initiatives in the renewable energy industry. The ideal candidate will spearhead the identification and acquisition of new business prospects, broaden market reach, cultivate strategic alliances, and propel revenue growth within solar and energy storage solutions.

Oversee a comprehensive range of essential duties, including but not limited to strategic planning, team leadership, and operational execution. Provide guidance to department members to ensure alignment with organizational objectives and foster a collaborative work environment. Implement and monitor policies and procedures to maintain compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular performance evaluations, identify skill gaps, and recommend targeted training initiatives to enhance team capabilities. Analyze workflow processes, recommend efficiencies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize productivity and resource utilization. Serve as the primary liaison between senior management and operational teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment of goals.

Secure new contracts and purchase orders to expand revenue streams and meet sales objectives effectively.

Enhance ACO Nigeria’s dealer and distributor network to strengthen market penetration and drive sustained growth.

Responsibilities include identifying, developing, and managing high-quality solar and energy storage opportunities to ensure strategic alignment and operational success.

Develop and sustain a robust pipeline of projects that demonstrate commercial viability.

Explore potential locations to develop renewable energy assets (REA), distributed energy resource management systems (DARES), and decentralized energy storage and control (Disco) initiatives.

Cultivate partnerships with both domestic and global financial stakeholders to facilitate and advance project funding initiatives.

Interact collaboratively with essential stakeholders, such as REA, Discos, governmental bodies, non-governmental organizations, and development collaborators, to foster alignment and achieve shared objectives.

Develop strategic partnerships with Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors, solar developers, and retail dealers.

Conduct comprehensive market research and continuously assess industry trends, competitor actions, and developing opportunities to inform strategic decision-making.

Draft comprehensive business development reports, compile timely market intelligence updates, and maintain detailed sales pipeline reports.

Ensure the precision and currency of customer and opportunity data stored in the CRM system at all times.

Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience. Proficiency in [specific software/tools] is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required to collaborate effectively in a team environment. Prior experience in [specific industry/role] is preferred, and familiarity with [specific methodologies/standards] is advantageous. A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a closely aligned field is required.

An MBA or an equivalent postgraduate qualification would be advantageous.

A minimum of a decade of sales experience is required, including at least five years specifically within the solar or broader renewable energy sector.

Demonstrated success in meeting and exceeding sales objectives while establishing and closing significant, high-value agreements.

Forged extensive connections throughout the renewable energy industry.

Proficiency in collaborating with Renewable Energy Associations, Distribution Companies, Engineering Procurement and Construction contractors, financial institutions, non-governmental organizations, and international development agencies is required.

Proficient in negotiation, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management, with a strong ability to engage effectively across all levels.

Strong commercial insight coupled with the capability to cultivate and maintain strategic alliances.
