Position Summary
Under the guidance of the Deputy Country Director overseeing Programs and in coordination with the Regional Technical Protection Coordinator (functional relationship), this role is responsible for establishing thematic approaches and methodologies within the Protection strategy, as well as ensuring their customization and implementation at the national level.
He or she facilitates strategic program direction by overseeing the execution and ongoing review of Protection indicators within the Nigeria Delegation and by validating both the indicators and their corresponding analyses.
He or she provides technical support and accompanies protection operations, projects, and approaches at the delegation level.
The incumbent is responsible for disseminating Protection expertise and best practices to TDI Nigeria Delegation teams through structured training sessions and ongoing coaching initiatives.
He or she is responsible for overseeing knowledge management initiatives in alignment with protection strategies within the delegation.
He or she guarantees that projects and interventions in Protection comply with both international standards and Terry DES homes (TDI) guidelines, ensuring consistent quality and alignment.
He/She upholds technical support and maintains quality control for programs associated with Protection within the delegation.

A minimum of five years of professional experience in the field of child protection is required, with at least three of those years dedicated to technical advisory positions, capacity-building initiatives, and team leadership responsibilities.
Demonstrated expertise in designing, executing, and overseeing child protection initiatives, encompassing needs and resource assessments, as well as integrating protection measures across diverse sectors and programs. This requires robust strategic vision and the ability to apply analytical thinking across multiple domains.
Proficient understanding of international and national child protection frameworks and standards is required.
With a proven track record of collaborating within non-governmental organizations, you will have engaged with institutional partners, international and local NGOs, and contributed to working groups and/or clusters.
A thorough knowledge of TDI’s key child protection domains—including case management, child protection systems strengthening, community-based protection, child protection in emergencies, MHPSS, safeguarding, and child participation and empowerment—is essential. Candidates must possess senior-level expertise in at least one of these specialized areas.
