Job Summary

The Managing Director will spearhead the cooperative’s strategic direction, fostering member expansion while overseeing credit and lending functions, directing team performance, and reinforcing financial governance to uphold profitability and long-term viability.

Oversee and execute core responsibilities crucial to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Deliver key tasks with precision and efficiency, maintaining high standards of performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to foster synergy and achieve collective goals. Address challenges proactively, implementing solutions that enhance productivity and innovation. Support strategic initiatives by contributing specialized expertise and insights. Monitor progress closely, adjusting approaches as needed to meet evolving demands.

Oversee the daily functioning of the cooperative and provide updates to the Board and Executive Committee.

Expedite the augmentation of membership numbers, foster the accumulation of savings, and spearhead business development initiatives.

Responsibilities include managing loan marketing initiatives, conducting appraisals, overseeing disbursement processes, monitoring loan performance, and ensuring timely recovery of funds.

Oversee accounting functions, financial reporting procedures, cash management operations, and internal control systems.

Oversee the performance management, teamwork dynamics, discipline, and service delivery standards of the team.

Maintain accurate documentation, uphold compliance standards, manage risks effectively, and ensure readiness for audits.

Build relationships with members, groups, businesses and institutions within Kubwa and surrounding areas.

Seeking candidates with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, complemented by a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a related industry. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, along with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, a commitment to continuous learning, and the capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience in project management or leadership roles is highly desirable.

A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Cooperative Management, or any related commercial or social science discipline is required.

Minimum of seven years of relevant experience, including at least five years in a managerial capacity within a financial institution, microfinance bank, cooperative, or credit organization.

With extensive expertise in marketing, credit administration, accounting, and loan management, as well as a proven track record in team leadership, the ideal candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge to this role.
