Job Summary
We are in search of a meticulous and highly skilled Upholstery Technician to enhance our automobile manufacturing workforce. The chosen professional will fabricate, fit, repair, and install various interior upholstery components for vehicles, such as seats, door panels, headliners, carpets, and additional trim elements. We measure, cut, and sew upholstery materials to precise specifications before installing them into vehicle interiors, ensuring a precise and polished fit.
Craft, construct, and install vehicle seats, cushions, door panels, headliners, carpets, and interior trim components with precision and attention to detail.
Repair or replace compromised upholstery materials and interior components as needed to restore optimal condition.
Analyze design specifications, work instructions, and technical drawings to ensure accurate interpretation and execution.
Utilize upholstery tools, sewing machines, cutting equipment, and other relevant machinery to execute tasks with precision and efficiency.
Thoroughly evaluate finished upholstery projects to verify adherence to established quality standards as well as client specifications.
Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, and Quality Control teams to verify that all interior components meet the required standards for fit and finish.
Responsibilities include monitoring stock levels of upholstery materials and promptly escalating any inventory shortages for resolution.
Ensure that upholstery materials, including fabrics, leather, and foam, are handled and stored correctly to maintain their quality and integrity.
Ensure the work area remains tidy, well-organized, and free from hazards to promote a safe and efficient workplace environment.
Comply with established company safety protocols and manufacturing guidelines to ensure operational integrity and employee well-being.
Seeking a highly motivated individual with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with proven experience in project management and proficiency in industry-standard software tools. The ideal candidate should possess strong analytical skills, exceptional communication abilities, and a demonstrated capacity to lead cross-functional teams effectively. Familiarity with regulatory compliance and quality assurance processes is essential, as is the ability to analyze complex data sets and generate actionable insights. Prior experience in a fast-paced environment and a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget are highly desirable.
Candidates must possess at least a Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSC), West African Examinations Council (WAEC), National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NAB TEB), Trade Test Certificate, Technical College Certificate, or an equivalent qualification in Upholstery, Furniture Making, Interior Finishing, or a closely related field.
Experienced candidates should possess a minimum of two to five years of hands-on involvement in automotive upholstery, furniture upholstery, or a comparable manufacturing setting.
Demonstrated expertise in operating upholstery tools, sewing machines, and cutting equipment is required.
Proficient in selecting and working with upholstery materials, including fabrics, leather, and foam, as well as applying interior finishing techniques.
Demonstrates exceptional precision and meticulousness in executing tasks, coupled with a refined commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Proficient in analyzing and comprehending technical drawings and specifications with precision and clarity.
Proven ability to communicate effectively and collaborate seamlessly within a team environment.
Demonstrates a strong capacity for autonomous work while consistently delivering results within established production timelines.
Proficiency in automobile manufacturing processes would be highly beneficial.
