Reporting directly to the Project AQC Manager, this role involves overseeing quality assurance and quality control activities to ensure compliance with project specifications and regulatory standards. The incumbent will be responsible for implementing quality management systems, conducting inspections, and verifying that all deliverables meet the required benchmarks. Additionally, the position requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to address quality-related issues and maintain adherence to best practices throughout the project lifecycle.

Job Summary

The Coating Inspector oversees field joint coating and painting operations, ensuring adherence to quality control measures. Responsibilities include developing procedures and Inspection Test Plans (Its), providing specialized technical guidance, submitting daily reports, validating procedures, inspecting and certifying joints, and maintaining compliance with established project quality standards.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Leading and executing critical initiatives, the individual will oversee project planning, resource allocation, and team coordination to ensure timely and efficient delivery. They will analyze data to identify trends, assess performance metrics, and propose strategic improvements to enhance operational effectiveness. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to align goals, resolve challenges, and foster a culture of innovation and accountability. Direct the coating team while guaranteeing that all team members possess the required certifications for coating and painting operations.

Guarantee prompt daily deployment while meeting production objectives and maintaining all equipment in optimal operational condition.

Oversee everyday operations to guarantee strict adherence to established protocols and Inspection and Test Plans (Its).

Adhere to predefined daily schedules throughout your work duration.

Core technical responsibilities encompass the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of scalable software solutions to meet business objectives. This role requires proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, alongside expertise in database management, API integration, and system architecture. Candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, analytical thinking, and the capacity to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams. Additionally, familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), DevOps practices, and agile methodologies is essential. The position involves troubleshooting complex technical issues, optimizing system performance, and ensuring robust security protocols are in place.

Evaluate painting and coating processes alongside Inspection Test Plans (Its) to ensure adherence to established international codes and standards.

Ensure that all equipment employed in the performance of duties has been certified and is appropriate for the designated application.

Verify that all inspection instruments maintain proper calibration and remain up-to-date.

Examine and document deviations, track the implementation of corrective measures, and ensure the completion of Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs).

Prepare daily production reports and oversee the timely submission of digital tracking system reports, such as Pipe Track or comparable platforms.

Review procedures and Inspection and Test Plans (Its) to secure final client approval.

Ensure strict adherence to established protocols and Inspection and Test Plans (Its) at the worksite.

Conduct and oversee all mandatory tests in strict accordance with established procedures and Inspection and Test Plans (Its).

Accurately document and report all findings from inspections and tests conducted.

Ensure all personnel involved in coating and painting operations possess the necessary qualifications and certifications.

Perform all additional tasks associated with coating operations as directed by management.

Ensures adherence to stringent Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) standards and regulations across all operational activities. Monitors compliance with relevant legislation, company policies, and industry best practices to mitigate risks and prevent incidents. Conducts regular audits and inspections to evaluate performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions. Develops and enforces QHSE policies, procedures, and training programs to cultivate a safety-first culture among employees. Analyzes data to track key performance indicators (KPIs), assess trends, and report findings to senior management. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to integrate QHSE considerations into project planning and decision-making processes.

Ensure strict compliance with Occupational Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental policies, procedures, and all applicable regulatory requirements.

Ensure strict adherence to all safety protocols and verify the correct utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Lead or attend toolbox meetings prior to the start of daily work activities to ensure safety protocols and operational guidelines are clearly communicated and understood by all team members.

Facilitate the promotion of Hazard Identification and Risk (HIS) reporting while demonstrating leadership through personal example.

Ensure all team members participate in mandatory Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) meetings as scheduled.

Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline is required.

A minimum qualification of NACE Level 2, GAS, or EROSION 3 certification is required.

NACE Level 3 certification or SSPC 3 (preferred) is required.

Accredited qualifications in Construction Risk Assessment, Radiation Protection, Fire Safety, Basic Life Support, and First Aid are required.

Possession of a Certificate from the American Galvanizing Institute is considered beneficial.

Experience

With a decade or more of hands-on expertise, you will have led corrosion control initiatives—spanning painting, coating, and insulation—within both EPC and client-side operations in the oil and gas sector.

Proven expertise in key areas, along with a strong set of professional abilities, is essential. A deep understanding of core technical and functional skills is required, supported by the capacity to apply them effectively. Competency in both interpersonal and analytical abilities is crucial, along with the ability to collaborate seamlessly within a team. Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability are also vital for success in this role. Effective communication and organizational proficiencies are expected to ensure seamless operations and project execution.

Proven expertise in painting, coating, and insulating steel structures and concrete surfaces is required.

Proven expertise in galvanizing steel structures and pipelines is required.

Proficient in executing pipe stringing, interpreting alignment sheets, and performing pipe lowering operations.

Demonstrated expertise in industrial safety management practices and protocols.

Proven expertise in conducting comprehensive risk assessments within construction environments is essential. The role demands a meticulous approach to identifying, evaluating, and mitigating potential hazards to ensure project safety and compliance. Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail are required to assess risks accurately and implement effective control measures. Experience in construction risk management, familiarity with industry regulations, and the ability to develop robust risk mitigation strategies are key qualifications for this position.

Proficient in financial management, including budget preparation, tracking, and oversight, along with strong administrative and operational support capabilities.

Possesses comprehensive expertise in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and their practical application.

Proficiency in International Organization for Standardization (ISO) quality management systems is required.

Proficiency in fabrication quality systems specific to the oil and gas industry is required.
