Job Summary
HR Leverage Africa is seeking a dynamic Canteen Manager to oversee the comprehensive management of its client’s canteen as a standalone business unit. The successful candidate will oversee all operational functions, including staff management, budget administration, expenditure control, procurement processes, performance reporting, and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction within a fast-paced food service setting.
Oversee and execute core duties that include leading project initiatives, managing cross-functional teams, and ensuring adherence to organizational goals. Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance operational efficiency and drive sustainable growth. Monitor performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed. Collaborate with stakeholders to align resources and foster innovation. Maintain compliance with industry regulations and internal policies throughout all processes.
Responsible for directing day-to-day canteen activities, including food preparation, customer service, and the optimization of operational workflows.
Responsible for overseeing all team members, including chefs, cooks, stewards, cleaners, and storekeepers, while coordinating and managing shift schedules to ensure seamless operations.
Monitor food cost, inventory utilization, and wastage while ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines to optimize financial performance and operational efficiency.
Responsible for overseeing procurement activities and fostering strong partnerships with suppliers.
Ensure rigorous adherence to HACCP, hygiene, and food safety protocols at all times.
Compile operational reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, incorporating detailed cost and performance analysis.
Act as the primary point of contact between client representatives and canteen management teams, facilitating seamless communication and coordination.
Maintain a steadfast commitment to delivering high-quality service and fostering customer satisfaction at every interaction.
Requirements
With a solid track record spanning several years, you have successfully managed operations within canteens, catering services, restaurants, or hospitality environments.
Demonstrates extensive expertise in financial planning, sourcing activities, and supplier relationship oversight.
Demonstrated success in leading extensive teams within fast-paced, high-volume food service environments.
Proficient in food safety protocols and HACCP regulatory frameworks is essential.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or other reporting tools is beneficial.
Proficiency in one or more of the following positions is required: Canteen Manager, Restaurant Manager overseeing high-volume operations, Hospitality Operations Manager, or Catering Manager.
