Role Summary
The Automation Engineer assumes responsibility for designing, maintaining, ensuring the reliability of, and continuously enhancing electrical and automation systems throughout the facility.
This position maintains the peak functionality of production machinery, utility systems, control infrastructure, and instrumentation to uphold safe, efficient, and regulation-compliant manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilties
Design and implement control systems and instrumentation solutions tailored for manufacturing operations, encompassing programming expertise in PLCs, His, and SCADA platforms.
Responsible for the upkeep and enhancement of electrical and automated control systems across processing units, packaging lines, and HVAC infrastructure within pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
Monitor system performance and conduct thorough root-cause analyses for automated equipment failures to reduce Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
Implement and oversee industrial network infrastructures, including Ethernet/IP, Profits, and Modbus, to establish and maintain secure, high-performance data exchanges between operational technology (OT) environments and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
Maintain comprehensive backups and robust version control for all automation software and configurations to ensure data integrity and system reliability.
Responsibilities include the upkeep and organization of essential documentation, such as engineering drawings, electrical schematics, panel layouts, control logic diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Spearhead automation enhancement initiatives by overseeing technical budget allocations, project schedules, and vendor performance outcomes.
Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of three years of hands-on experience in a comparable role. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, as is familiarity with regulatory compliance and quality assurance protocols. Strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-driven environment are required. Prior experience in project management or process optimization is highly preferred.
A Bachelor of Science degree or Higher National Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics is required.
Proficient in industrial control systems and instrumentation technologies with a comprehensive grasp of their applications and functionalities.
With a minimum of five to ten years of hands-on experience in electrical control systems, instrumentation, and automation within a manufacturing or Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) setting, the ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation.
Candidates must possess prior experience within the pharmaceutical, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), or highly regulated manufacturing sectors.
Demonstrated expertise in PLC systems, including Siemens, Allen Bradley, and Schneider, as well as SCADA platform proficiency, is required.
Proficiency in the practical application of pneumatics, sensors, actuators, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and servo motion control systems is required.
