About the role
To maintain and program central control systems and related equipment, offer technical support to Electrical/Instrumentation Engineers and Technicians, while also delivering detailed engineering and on-site supervision for the electrical and instrumentation aspects of capital projects.
Oversee the day-to-day operations and ensure all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align goals and drive project execution. Monitor performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions as needed. Maintain compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards. Provide leadership and guidance to team members to foster a productive and motivated work environment. Prepare and present regular reports on progress, challenges, and key performance indicators to senior management.
Ensure that all Electrical and Instrumentation tasks are carried out in strict accordance with Large’s safety protocols as well as the specific safety guidelines established at the plant site.
Optimize and sustain sophisticated supervisory oversight (Lucie) and automation systems to enhance plant operations through continuous process improvement initiatives.
Optimize and sustain the Human Machine Interface (HMI) system in close collaboration with Production to refine trends, enhance reporting capabilities, strengthen control mechanisms, manage alarms effectively, and improve display functionality.
Optimize and maintain the software and hardware components of Programmable Logic Controllers to ensure peak performance and reliability.
Oversee the operation and functionality of plant control computers and supervisory control systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
Enhance plant efficiency by actively marketing innovative upgrades and newly introduced features to stakeholders and personnel. This role involves highlighting the advantages of these advancements to drive adoption and support optimal operational outcomes.
Collaborate effectively with Electrical and Instrumentation Engineers to sustain and enhance plant optimization efforts.
Establish and uphold optimal inventory levels for spare parts while meticulously maintaining comprehensive management records encompassing direct reports, vendors, and work orders.
Design, implement, and consistently oversee preventive maintenance programs to ensure optimal system performance and reliability.
Ensure compliance with established Automation, IT, and corporate standards and regulations.
Conduct comprehensive root cause failure analysis (CFA) and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) for failures occurring in Electrical and Instrumentation equipment to identify underlying causes and assess potential impacts systematically.
Deliver on-site guidance and specialized technical support in collaboration with plant Electrical, Instrumentation, and Automation technicians as well as Maintenance Mechanics.
Champion the on-the-job training and professional growth of Automation Engineers to enhance their skills and expertise.
We are responsible for implementing the two-year strategic spare parts list for the facility.
Assume on-call duties as part of a continuous, round-the-clock operational framework.
Develop and mentor dependable successors throughout the duration of the contractual agreement.
Assist in the execution of the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System (EMS) and ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) implementations.
Collaborate closely in the deployment and ongoing upkeep of an integrated management system throughout the facility.
Required skills include strong proficiency in written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely. Candidates must possess exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Proficiency in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite or project management tools, is essential. Additionally, the role demands the capacity for independent problem-solving, adaptability to changing priorities, and a commitment to meeting deadlines consistently. Prior experience in a similar role is highly desirable, along with a proven track record of delivering high-quality results.
Possesses an in-depth understanding of cement manufacturing processes, including key operational stages and technical considerations. Demonstrates strong familiarity with product quality parameters and the methodologies for conducting quality control tests to ensure adherence to industry standards.
Experienced professionals should possess a solid understanding of computer-aided systems specifically designed for managing kiln and mill operations.
Capable of demonstrating proactive behavior through the application of effective problem-solving techniques.
Education
A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in any engineering field, with a primary focus on Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or Physics, is required.
Experience
With a minimum of four to five years of postgraduate experience, the ideal candidate will bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role.
