Role Description

The Assistant Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Abuja, supporting the finance team with day-to-day accounting operations.

Responsibilities include recording financial transactions, maintaining ledgers, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, and preparing basic reconciliations and financial reports.

The role also involves supporting month-end and year-end closing activities, organizing financial documentation, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and relevant accounting standards.

The Assistant Accountant will collaborate closely with senior finance staff, respond to internal queries, and help maintain accurate, timely financial records to support decision-making across the organization.

Qualifications

Strong foundational knowledge of accounting principles, including experience with general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and basic financial reporting.

Proficiency with accounting software and productivity tools (e.g., Excel/Spreadsheets, ERP or accounting systems), with the ability to learn new tools quickly.

Excellent attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams and maintain professional relationships.

Demonstrated integrity, discretion, and commitment to maintaining confidentiality of financial information.

Relevant educational background, such as a degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification or progress toward certification (e.g., ICAN, ACA, ACCA) is an advantage.

Prior experience in an accounting or finance support role, ideally in a manufacturing, FMCG, or sustainability-focused organization, is beneficial.

Genuine interest in sustainability and alignment with TPPC’s mission to reduce plastic pollution through responsible packaging solutions.
