JOB SUMMARY

The successful applicant should demonstrate extensive hands-on experience in commercial pig farming, along with the ability to prepare detailed Excel-based reports. Additionally, they must excel in driving operational efficiency, minimizing mortality rates, optimizing feed conversion ratios, and leading staff with professionalism.

Qualifications

A degree or diploma in Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Technology, or a closely related discipline is highly desirable for this role.

A minimum of three to five years of hands-on experience in the management of a commercial pig farm is required.

A comprehensive grasp of key concepts and principles within the specified domain is essential.

Pig breeding operations encompass the systematic management and selection of swine for reproduction to enhance desirable traits such as growth efficiency, disease resistance, and meat quality. These systems involve meticulous record-keeping, performance tracking, and strategic mating to optimize genetic potential. Professionals in this field must possess expertise in animal husbandry, genetics, and veterinary care, along with strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed breeding decisions. Additionally, they are responsible for maintaining biosecurity protocols, ensuring animal welfare, and adhering to industry regulations to sustain productivity and herd health.

Farrowing supervision encompasses overseeing the birthing process for sows, ensuring the health and welfare of both the mother and piglets. This role involves monitoring the sow’s condition before, during, and after farrowing, identifying and addressing any complications that may arise, and providing necessary interventions to promote a successful delivery. Additionally, it requires maintaining meticulous records of farrowing events, piglet weights, and health statuses to track progress and inform future management decisions. Candidates should possess a degree in animal science, nutrition, or a related field, along with hands-on experience in feed formulation, proficiency in specialized software, and strong analytical skills to assess ingredient quality and cost-effectiveness. Collaborates with veterinarians and farm staff to design vaccination schedules, treatment plans, and emergency response strategies. Maintains meticulous records of health trends, treatment outcomes, and biosecurity compliance for regulatory and operational purposes. Stays informed on emerging diseases, research advancements, and industry best practices to optimize herd health management.

Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for all farming operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. Track inventory levels of crops, livestock, and equipment, documenting production data, sales transactions, and expenditures. Generate reports to analyze performance metrics, financial outcomes, and operational efficiency for management review. Collaborate with agronomists, accountants, and other stakeholders to verify data accuracy and address discrepancies. Utilize specialized software or manual systems to record and retrieve information efficiently while adhering to confidentiality and data security protocols.
