"FIT: A Nigerian financial system innovator since 1981."
FIT, founded in 1981 as a non-profit organization limited by guarantee under the Nigerian Companies Act of 1968, was established in accordance with the findings of the Pius Igbo Committee—a Federal Government-appointed body tasked with reviewing Nigeria’s financial system. The organization is collectively owned by the Nigerian Bankers’ Committee, which includes the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation, and all licensed banks and discount houses operating in Nigeria.
