Job Summary
HR Leverage Africa is currently seeking a dynamic Canteen Manager for one of its valued clients. The successful applicant will oversee the canteen as a standalone business unit, handling key functions such as daily operations, workforce management, financial planning, expense monitoring, procurement, performance reporting, and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction within a fast-paced food service setting.
Oversee and execute a comprehensive range of critical duties, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives while maintaining high standards of efficiency and accountability. Lead and support cross-functional initiatives, fostering collaboration among teams to drive project success and operational excellence. Monitor progress through regular assessments, promptly addressing any deviations to uphold performance targets and deliver consistent, measurable results. Serve as a key liaison between departments, facilitating clear communication and streamlining processes to enhance productivity. Maintain meticulous documentation and reporting to support data-driven decision-making and compliance with established policies. Additionally, identify opportunities for innovation and process improvements to optimize workflows and contribute to long-term strategic goals.
Responsibilities include managing day-to-day canteen operations, which encompass food production, service delivery, and workflow coordination.
Experienced professionals are sought to oversee a cohesive team encompassing chefs, cooks, stewards, cleaners, and storekeepers while effectively coordinating shift schedules to ensure seamless operations.
Oversee food expenditures, manage budgetary allocations, minimize waste, and track inventory utilization.
Oversee the procurement process and cultivate strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure seamless operational flow and value delivery.
Maintain full adherence to HACCP protocols, hygiene regulations, and food safety standards without exception.
Compile regular operational reports—daily, weekly, and monthly—to provide detailed cost and performance analysis for organizational assessment.
Act as the primary point of contact, facilitating seamless communication and coordination between clients and canteen operational teams.
Deliver consistently high-quality service while maintaining exceptional customer satisfaction.
Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of experience in a relevant field, along with a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline. Proficiency in industry-standard software and tools is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required to address complex challenges effectively. Additionally, exceptional communication and organizational abilities are necessary to ensure project success and team alignment. Prior leadership or project management experience is highly advantageous.
With a demonstrated track record spanning several years, you possess hands-on expertise in managing canteen, catering, hospitality, or restaurant operations, ensuring seamless service delivery and operational efficiency.
Proficiency in budgeting, procurement, and vendor management is required, supported by extensive practical experience in these domains.
Demonstrates a strong track record in leading sizable teams within fast-paced food service environments that handle substantial customer volumes.
Profound understanding of food safety protocols and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) principles is essential, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and the maintenance of high hygiene standards throughout all operational processes.

Candidates are required to demonstrate prior experience in one or more of the following capacities: Canteen Manager, Restaurant Manager in a high-volume setting, Hospitality Operations Manager, or Catering Manager.
