Job Summary
The Managing Director will lead the cooperative, fostering membership expansion while overseeing credit and loan activities, directing staff performance, reinforcing financial safeguards, and maintaining profitable, sustainable operations.
Oversee a comprehensive range of duties encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and team leadership to ensure organizational objectives are met. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices that enhance efficiency, productivity, and compliance with industry standards. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress and identify areas for improvement, recommending corrective actions where necessary. Foster collaboration across departments to streamline workflows and achieve cross-functional goals. Manage budgets, resources, and stakeholder relationships to optimize financial performance and maintain high levels of accountability. Lead initiatives that drive innovation, continuous improvement, and sustainable growth within the organization. Ensure adherence to legal and regulatory requirements while promoting a culture of transparency and ethical conduct.
Direct oversight of the cooperative’s daily activities is required, with accountability to the Board and Executive Committee for all operational outcomes.
Enhance membership acquisition, foster savings engagement, and expand business development initiatives.
Responsible for managing all aspects of loan marketing, conducting property appraisals, overseeing fund disbursement, monitoring loan performance, and ensuring timely loan recovery.
Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting procedures, cash management activities, and internal control systems.
Oversee staff performance, foster teamwork, uphold discipline, and ensure high-quality service delivery.
Maintain meticulous documentation, uphold compliance standards, manage risks effectively, and ensure readiness for audits.
Develop and nurture meaningful connections with community members, local groups, businesses, and institutions across Cuba and its neighboring regions.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is required, along with a minimum of five years of progressive accounting experience. Strong proficiency in GAAP, financial reporting, and auditing standards is essential, as is expertise in ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are necessary to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Experience preparing financial statements, managing month-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements is highly preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a track record of accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines while maintaining high ethical standards.
A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Marketing, Cooperative Management, or any closely related field in commerce or social sciences is required.
A minimum of seven years of relevant professional experience is required, including at least five years in a managerial capacity within a financial institution, microfinance bank, cooperative, or credit organization.
Experienced professional with a proven track record in marketing, credit administration, accounting, loans management, and team leadership.
Required Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is essential, along with a minimum of three years of progressive experience in financial reporting, analysis, or auditing. Proficiency in advanced Excel, ERP systems, and financial software is mandatory, while familiarity with GAAP and IFRS standards is preferred. Strong analytical abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are also necessary. The ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines is expected.
