Basic Function:
This role involves managing the treatment of severe acute malnutrition (SAM), including cases with and without complications, by delivering nutrition rehabilitation to admitted patients and preventing further deterioration through the administration of therapeutic feeds and essential medications. Additionally, the position requires overseeing health and nutrition counseling, as well as the capacity-building initiatives for Community-Based Management of Acute Malnutrition (CAM) assistants.
Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations to ensure efficiency and adherence to company standards, managing and motivating a team to meet performance targets, and collaborating with cross-functional departments to drive project success. Additionally, the role requires developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance productivity and customer satisfaction, analyzing performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement, and maintaining compliance with industry regulations and internal policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, proficiency in data analysis and reporting, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
Lead community outreach initiatives and conduct mid-upper arm circumference screenings to actively identify cases of malnutrition among children under five years of age. Facilitate Outpatient Therapeutic Program (OTP) services in target communities and Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps, including defaulter tracing, follow-up consultations, and delivering essential health education at OTP sites. Monitor OTP performance by promptly identifying complications, non-responders, and facilitating two-way referrals to stabilization centers (SC) based on established protocols.
Develop comprehensive Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CAM) work plans and analyze malnutrition trends using admission data, while conducting mortality audits at OTP sites. Collaborate with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) unit during assessments, focus group discussions, and the preparation of timely reports. Ensure meticulous documentation of all services and continuously track OTP performance and indicators.
Support the effective management of children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and complications at the Stabilization Centre (SC) by ensuring accurate clinical diagnoses, thorough health assessments, and adherence to treatment protocols. Validate that all admission, discharge, and transfer criteria between OTP and SC are strictly followed. Conduct daily ward rounds and establish a 24-hour duty roster for CAMPS assistants.
Perform weekly and monthly physical inventories of nutrition supplies to verify stock levels, maintain adequate availability of medical and food supplies, and ensure pre-positioning aligns with logistics planning. Oversee the safe preparation of therapeutic milk and food for admitted SAM children and their caregivers. Work closely with CAM assistants at the SC to ensure protocol compliance, seamless referrals to and from the OTP, and proper execution of comprehensive health checks, vital sign monitoring, medication administration, and feeding protocols.
Report progress and challenges promptly, address technical inquiries regarding program admissions and discharges, and update patient records, including critical care pathway cards and OTP follow-up cards, to ensure completeness, accuracy, and continuity of care. Deliver key health education messages to beneficiaries in accordance with established protocols and guidelines. Compile statistical data on admissions, defaults, cures, absences, and deaths, and draft activity reports.
Support the implementation of Standardized Monitoring and Assessment of Relief and Transition (SMART), Semi-Quantitative Evaluation of Access and Coverage (SQUEAK), and other nutrition surveys at the Local Government Area (LGA) level, performing any additional duties as assigned.
Coordinates supplementary responsibilities, including the oversight of cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. Manages stakeholder communications to maintain transparency and foster collaborative relationships. Conducts periodic reviews of operational processes to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements. Provides guidance to team members on best practices and emerging industry trends. Assesses team performance and delivers constructive feedback to support professional development. Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies throughout all activities.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; 3+ years of professional experience in software development; proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++; familiarity with database systems like SQL and NoSQL; experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and DevOps practices; strong problem-solving and analytical skills; excellent communication and teamwork abilities; and the capacity to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing along with 1 to 3 years of professional experience is required. Alternatively, candidates holding an MBBS degree with a minimum of one year of relevant experience will also be considered. Prior involvement in humanitarian efforts is advantageous.
