Job Summary

The Hospitalist oversees the comprehensive care of patients throughout their entire hospitalization, from admission to discharge. This position emphasizes the provision of exceptional, well-coordinated inpatient care, driving enhanced patient outcomes while maximizing the efficient utilization of hospital resources.

The Hospitalist collaborates effectively with diverse healthcare teams to oversee both acute and chronic patient care within the hospital environment.

This position demands a blend of clinical expertise, operational proficiency, and robust interdisciplinary collaboration to elevate patient safety, satisfaction, and care continuity.

Oversee and manage daily operations to ensure seamless workflow and high productivity. Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with organizational goals. Monitor performance metrics and implement corrective actions as needed. Lead and mentor cross-functional teams to foster collaboration and professional growth. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies. Report progress and key performance indicators to senior management on a regular basis. Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost efficiencies. Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders to enhance business partnerships and drive mutual success.

Deliver holistic medical management to inpatients, ensuring their overall health and well-being throughout their hospitalization.

Perform comprehensive initial patient evaluations, formulate individualized treatment strategies, and oversee continuous patient care initiatives.

Perform daily patient rounds and meticulously record clinical observations in the medical records.

Evaluate patient progress regularly and modify treatment plans accordingly to ensure optimal care and outcomes.

Provide medical management for acute illnesses, chronic disease exacerbations, and post-operative recovery in accordance with established clinical protocols.

Handle inpatient emergencies and clinical deteriorations with urgency and efficiency.

Promote the implementation of evidence-based clinical practices and maintain strict adherence to established protocols.

Responsibilities include managing all aspects of the admission process, such as handling clerical duties and maintaining accurate documentation.

Conduct daily ward rounds to systematically evaluate all patients and ensure their assessments are completed promptly.

Ensure seamless discharge planning to facilitate secure and prompt transitions of care.

Draft discharge summaries, prescriptions, and follow-up care plans with precision and clarity to ensure seamless transitions of care.

Work collaboratively with specialists, nurses, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to enhance patient care and treatment outcomes.

Collaborate with other departments by initiating and managing referrals and consultations to ensure seamless coordination.

Facilitate seamless transitions of care across emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings to maintain consistency and quality in patient treatment.

Collaborate in interdisciplinary case evaluations and strategic discussions to ensure comprehensive assessment and coordinated decision-making.

Develop evidence-based protocols and guidelines and provide training to medical officers and nurses on their appropriate application in patient care.

Ensure strict compliance with clinical protocols, adhere to established guidelines, and implement evidence-based practices in all patient care activities.

Engage actively in quality enhancement projects and clinical assessment procedures to drive continuous improvement in healthcare delivery.

Monitor and evaluate quality improvement initiatives and patient safety indicators, such as medication errors, readmission rates, and adverse events, to ensure compliance with established standards and protocols.

Ensure adherence to established infection prevention and control protocols and guidelines at all times.

Document clinical incidents and contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) efforts to identify underlying issues and prevent recurrence.

Ensure medical records are meticulously maintained, complete, and updated promptly to meet established standards.

Demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills by clearly and compassionately conveying medical information, including diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses, to patients and their families.

Facilitate comprehensive and seamless transitions between shifts by delivering detailed handovers, ensuring continuity of operations and clarity for incoming personnel.

Facilitate compliance with accreditation standards, such as those set forth by the Joint Commission International, ensuring all organizational processes align with requisite benchmarks.

Maintain transparent and effective communication with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and prognoses.

Exhibit empathy, mutual respect, and professionalism consistently across all engagements.

Facilitate seamless patient transitions from the point of admission through to discharge, ensuring an uninterrupted continuum of care.

Contribute to enhancements in patient satisfaction (CSAT) and experience (NPS) metrics.

Oversee the performance and activities of medical officers to ensure adherence to established standards and protocols.

Engage in the clinical instruction and mentorship of junior physicians, fostering their professional growth and competence through hands-on guidance and supervision.

Provide guidance and facilitate professional development for clinical staff through training and mentorship initiatives.

Attend and contribute actively to clinical meetings, case reviews, ecosystem grand rounds, and various departmental activities.

Commit to ongoing professional growth through Continuous Professional Development (CPD) while ensuring awareness of the most current medical practices and guidelines.

Uphold hospital policies and clinical governance frameworks in accordance with established standards and protocols.

Support the coordination of bed allocation and enhance the efficiency of patient throughput within the facility.

You will engage in on-call schedules and participate in shift rotations as required.

As a candidate for this role, you must possess a bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in software development or project management. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++ is essential, and experience with agile methodologies and cloud services is highly desirable. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment are required. Additionally, excellent communication and leadership abilities are necessary to guide teams and stakeholders effectively.

Possession of a medical degree, specifically an MBBS or an equivalent qualification, conferred by a recognized and accredited academic institution, is required.

Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYC) program is an essential requirement.

With a minimum of five to seven years of hands-on clinical experience, candidates should demonstrate a proven track record in delivering patient care.

A current, unrestricted medical license is required for this position.

Proven expertise in clinical assessment and diagnostic procedures.

Proficient in advanced life support techniques is essential.

Proficient in utilizing computers and related software applications is essential.
