Job Summary

HR Leverage Africa is currently seeking a dynamic Canteen Manager for one of its clients. The successful candidate will oversee the comprehensive administration of the canteen as an autonomous business entity, encompassing operational oversight, workforce management, financial planning, expenditure regulation, procurement activities, performance reporting, and ensuring high levels of client satisfaction within a fast-paced food service setting.

Oversee and execute critical duties integral to the role, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and operational standards. Perform tasks encompassing strategic planning, project management, and cross-functional collaboration to drive efficiency and innovation. Address challenges proactively, leveraging analytical skills to assess complex situations and implement data-driven solutions. Facilitate seamless communication across departments, fostering a cohesive work environment and enhancing team productivity. Maintain meticulous attention to detail while adhering to deadlines and compliance requirements to uphold excellence in performance.

Responsible for managing all aspects of daily canteen operations, including food preparation, service delivery, and workflow optimization.

Supervise a team of culinary and operational staff, including chefs, cooks, stewards, cleaners, and storekeepers, while overseeing shift schedules to ensure seamless daily operations.

Devise and implement strategies to regulate food expenses, allocate budgets, minimize wastage, and optimize inventory utilization.

Oversee the procurement process and cultivate strategic partnerships with suppliers to ensure seamless supply chain operations and optimal resource acquisition.

Maintain adherence to HACCP, hygiene, and food safety standards without exception.

Prepare operational reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, incorporating detailed cost and performance analysis to evaluate efficiency and identify trends.

Act as the primary point of contact facilitating seamless communication between client stakeholders and canteen management teams.

Deliver reliable, high-quality service while maintaining a strong focus on exceeding customer expectations to achieve exceptional satisfaction levels.

Requirements

With a strong background in overseeing canteen, catering, restaurant, or hospitality operations, you bring extensive experience in management to the role.

Seasoned professional with extensive expertise in budget administration, strategic procurement, and vendor relationship oversight.

Demonstrates a strong track record in effectively leading extensive teams within fast-paced, high-capacity food service environments.

Possesses comprehensive expertise in food safety protocols and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) standards.

A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools is considered beneficial.

A minimum of one year’s relevant experience is required in any of the following positions: Canteen Manager, high-volume Restaurant Manager, Hospitality Operations Manager, or Catering Manager.
