Position Summary
The Agricultural Recovery Officer will oversee the execution of FBI’s Agricultural Recovery Program within Benue State. This position entails sourcing and securing food recovery prospects from commercial farms, smallholder farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, and produce markets, and subsequently organizing the redistribution of recovered agricultural produce via FBI’s established network of beneficiary organizations throughout the state.
Oversee a range of critical duties, including managing day-to-day operations, ensuring compliance with company policies, and maintaining high standards of efficiency and accuracy. Develop and implement strategic initiatives to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and foster team collaboration. Monitor performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and take corrective actions as needed. Act as a liaison between senior leadership and operational teams to align goals and drive organizational success. Additionally, oversee budget planning, resource allocation, and financial reporting to support sustainable growth. Ensure adherence to industry regulations and internal protocols while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Foster and sustain collaborative relationships with farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, produce markets, processors, and additional key stakeholders to streamline the recovery of surplus food.
Oversee the retrieval, processing, and allocation of excess farm products while adhering to established organizational benchmarks and stringent food safety regulations.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with beneficiary organizations while overseeing the strategic allocation of food resources to optimize delivery to at-risk populations.
Perform on-site evaluations, conduct oversight visits, and gather relevant data to enhance program execution and ensure accountability.
Maintain precise documentation of food recovery volumes, distribution figures, beneficiaries served, and partner interactions.
Draft routine reports and participate in program assessment, outcome evaluation, and stakeholder outreach initiatives to drive continuous improvement and strategic alignment.
Maintain adherence to organizational policies, safeguarding standards, and donor guidelines to ensure full compliance.
At stakeholder meetings, community engagements, and pertinent forums, this role involves representing the program with professionalism and strategic insight.
We are seeking an experienced professional who holds a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a proven track record of at least five years in [industry/role]. A minimum of three years of professional experience in agriculture, food security, livelihoods, food systems, supply chain management, post-harvest handling, or community development programs is required.
Experience in collaboration with agricultural producers, cooperatives, markets, or food security programs is strongly preferred.
Proficient in post-harvest loss mitigation, food recovery methodologies, and the dynamics of agricultural value chains.
Proven expertise in gathering data, tracking progress, conducting evaluations, and preparing comprehensive reports is essential.
