SPIE Global Services Energy seeks to bolster its personnel in Nigeria through the recruitment of a seasoned HVAC Senior Technician to integrate with our offshore operations division.

Key Responsibility: You will be responsible for overseeing and executing a range of critical tasks, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives. This role demands meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently. Additionally, you will coordinate with cross-functional teams, maintain accurate documentation, and ensure compliance with established policies and procedures. Proficiency in relevant software tools, effective communication, and a proactive approach to identifying opportunities for improvement are essential. The position requires a commitment to continuous learning and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

We are seeking a skilled professional to perform maintenance and repair duties, ensuring all systems and equipment operate efficiently. The ideal candidate will conduct routine inspections, diagnose issues, troubleshoot malfunctions, and execute necessary repairs to prevent downtime. Responsibilities include maintaining HVAC systems, electrical components, plumbing, and machinery while adhering to safety protocols. Additionally, the role requires maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities, ordering replacement parts as needed, and collaborating with other teams to resolve complex problems. Proficiency in technical manuals, strong problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to quality work are essential. Prior experience in a similar role is preferred.

Responsible for servicing and repairing HVAC systems in control rooms, switchgear rooms, and related facilities to ensure optimal environmental conditions and operational reliability.

Maintain control room positive pressure systems to prevent hydrocarbon gas ingress, adhering strictly to IEC Ex and ALEX standards.

Perform comprehensive maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of chillers, packaged units, air handling units (Thus), and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems in harsh, corrosive saltwater conditions.

Monitor operations during drilling and production phases, ensuring readiness to respond to any contingencies or issues that may arise.

Responsible for the execution of installation and commissioning activities to ensure seamless integration and optimal functionality of systems, equipment, or infrastructure. Duties include performing on-site installations, conducting thorough system checks, verifying operational performance, and documenting all stages of the process. Requires adherence to technical specifications, safety protocols, and project timelines while collaborating with cross-functional teams to resolve any issues. Must possess strong problem-solving skills, technical expertise in relevant systems, and the ability to work in dynamic environments to meet client expectations.

Responsibilities include the installation of new HVAC systems along with the meticulous oversight of piping, ductwork, and electrical connections to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with industry standards.

Systems must be commissioned, and performance testing must be conducted thoroughly prior to the transition to operations.

Analyze mechanical and electrical drawings, PIDs, and HVAC schematics to extract critical information and ensure accurate interpretation of system designs.

Ensures adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) regulations and compliance standards across all operational activities. Monitors and verifies compliance with local, state, and federal laws, as well as company policies and industry best practices. Conducts regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly. Develops and implements HSE policies, procedures, and training programs to foster a culture of safety and compliance within the organization. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to address safety concerns, investigate incidents, and implement preventive measures. Maintains accurate records, reports, and documentation related to HSE performance and compliance status. Stays updated on evolving regulatory requirements and industry trends to proactively mitigate risks and ensure continuous improvement in HSE practices.

Ensure adherence to NU PRC safety standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and the organization’s HSE policies.

Before commencing any work on energized equipment, ensure that all necessary permits, including Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Lockout/Ragout (LOT) procedures, are fully completed. Compliance with these safety protocols is mandatory to mitigate risks and maintain a secure working environment.

Profile

Experienced in operations on offshore oil and gas production facilities, with a preference for Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FASO) units.

With a minimum of eight years of hands-on experience in the repair and maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration systems, the ideal candidate will bring a wealth of technical expertise to the role.

Candidates are required to possess a recognized Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or equivalent qualification, or have successfully completed a recognized trade apprenticeship or verified technician training program, supplemented by a minimum period of hands-on work experience.
