Job Summary

The Hospitalist oversees the comprehensive care of inpatients, managing their treatment from admission to discharge. This position emphasizes the provision of superior, well-coordinated inpatient care, enhancing patient recovery, and optimizing the utilization of hospital resources.

The Hospitalist collaborates with cross-functional teams to oversee the treatment of both acute and chronic illnesses in an inpatient environment.

Oversee a broad spectrum of critical functions, including managing daily operations, supervising staff performance, and ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations. Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality across all departments. Monitor key performance indicators to track progress and identify areas for improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align objectives and drive organizational success. Deliver thorough and complete medical treatment to hospitalized patients, ensuring their overall health and recovery are prioritized throughout their stay.

Perform comprehensive patient evaluations at the outset of care, design individualized treatment strategies, and oversee continuous management of patient health throughout the treatment process.

Perform daily patient rounds and meticulously record clinical observations.

Track patient responses to treatment and modify therapeutic interventions accordingly to ensure optimal outcomes.

Oversee the treatment of acute illnesses, chronic disease exacerbations, and post-operative patient recovery, ensuring comprehensive and timely medical care.

Respond without delay to urgent situations involving inpatients and instances of clinical decline.

Deliver clinical practice rooted in evidence and uphold established protocols with precision and consistency.

Responsibilities include managing all aspects of the admissions procedures, which encompass both clerical tasks and the maintenance of accurate documentation.

Conduct daily ward rounds and guarantee prompt review of every patient.

Facilitate comprehensive discharge planning initiatives to guarantee safe and timely transitions of care for patients.

Compose discharge summaries, prescriptions, and follow-up care plans with precision.

Work closely with healthcare specialists, nursing staff, pharmacists, and allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care and achieve optimal health outcomes.

Collaborate with various departments by initiating referrals and facilitating consultations to ensure seamless communication and coordination.

Facilitate seamless transitions of care across emergency, inpatient, and outpatient settings to maintain consistency and quality in patient treatment.

Engage actively in collaborative multidisciplinary case evaluations and deliberations to ensure comprehensive analysis and decision-making.

Develop evidence-based protocols and guidelines, while providing education to medical officers and nurses on their practical implementation in care settings.

Comply with established clinical protocols, guidelines, and evidence-based practices.

Engage in initiatives aimed at enhancing quality and conduct clinical audits to ensure adherence to established standards.

The incumbent will oversee the tracking and evaluation of quality improvement and patient safety metrics, such as medication errors, readmission rates, and adverse events, among other indicators.

Ensure adherence to established infection prevention and control protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for all individuals within the facility.

Document all clinical incidents and engage in root cause analysis (RCA) to identify underlying factors contributing to adverse events.

Ensure medical records are maintained with precision, comprehensiveness, and timeliness to uphold accuracy and compliance with established standards.

Professional communication with patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, and expected outcomes is essential in this role.

Ensure comprehensive and concise handovers are conducted at the end of each shift to facilitate seamless transitions.

Facilitate compliance with accreditation standards, such as those set by the Joint Commission International.

Maintain transparent and effective communication with patients and their families concerning diagnosis, treatment strategies, and expected outcomes.

Approach every interaction with empathy, mutual respect, and professionalism to foster positive relationships and maintain a productive work environment.

Facilitate the seamless progression of patients through the healthcare process, from initial intake to final discharge.

Drive efforts to enhance patient satisfaction (CSAT) and experience (NPS) scores, ensuring measurable improvements in healthcare quality and patient engagement.

Oversee the performance of medical officers to ensure adherence to professional standards and organizational protocols.

Engage in clinical instruction and mentorship of junior physicians, providing guidance, supervision, and hands-on training to support their professional development in a healthcare setting.

Provide guidance and facilitate training sessions for clinical staff to enhance their professional development.

Attend clinical meetings, case reviews, ecosystem grand rounds, and various departmental activities to contribute to discussions and decision-making processes.

Commit to ongoing professional growth through continuous professional development (CPD) and ensure alignment with the most current medical practices and guidelines.

Facilitate adherence to hospital policies and clinical governance frameworks to ensure compliance and maintain high standards of care.

Collaborate in overseeing bed allocation and enhancing patient flow efficiency.

Engage in on-call duties and share responsibilities through shift rotations.

Seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented professional with proven experience in managing complex projects and teams. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional problem-solving abilities, strong communication skills, and the capacity to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency. A minimum of five years of relevant work experience is required, along with proficiency in industry-specific software and tools. Familiarity with current best practices, regulatory guidelines, and compliance standards is essential to ensure seamless operations and adherence to organizational policies.

Earned a Doctor of Medicine (MBBS) degree or an equivalent credential from a recognized, accredited academic institution.

Completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYC) is a mandatory requirement.

Holds a current, unrestricted medical license to practice.

Clinical expertise encompassing comprehensive patient assessment and precise diagnostic capabilities.

Proficiency in advanced life support techniques is essential.
