Position Summary
The Agricultural Recovery Officer will spearhead the execution of FBI’s Agricultural Recovery Program within Benue State, ensuring seamless coordination and delivery. This position entails sourcing and securing viable food recovery prospects from commercial farms, smallholder farmers, cooperatives, aggregators, and produce markets, as well as facilitating the efficient redistribution of recovered produce via FBI’s network of beneficiary organizations throughout the state.
Oversee a comprehensive range of critical duties encompassing strategic planning, operational execution, and team leadership to ensure organizational objectives are met efficiently. Develop and implement policies and procedures that enhance productivity, compliance, and performance metrics while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Lead cross-functional initiatives, drive project management efforts, and collaborate with stakeholders to align resources and priorities with business goals. Monitor key performance indicators, analyze trends, and provide data-driven recommendations to senior management to support informed decision-making and long-term growth. Maintain open communication channels with teams, departments, and external partners to ensure transparency, resolve challenges, and reinforce a cohesive working environment.
Foster and sustain collaborations with agricultural producers, farming collectives, aggregation centers, fresh produce vendors, food manufacturers, and key stakeholders to enhance the recovery of surplus food supplies.
Coordinate surplus agricultural produce recovery, handling, and distribution in adherence to organizational benchmarks and food safety protocols.
Build and maintain strong partnerships with beneficiary organizations while overseeing the allocation of food resources to guarantee timely and effective distribution to at-risk populations.
Perform on-site evaluations, site inspections, and data gathering initiatives to facilitate program execution and ensure accountability.
Accurately document all recovered food quantities, distribution efforts, beneficiaries served, and partner collaborations.
Prepare regular reports, participate in program learning initiatives, measure impact, and engage with stakeholders to enhance overall effectiveness and transparency.
Ensure adherence to all organizational policies, safeguarding protocols, and donor-specified guidelines to maintain operational integrity and ethical standards.
Serve as the program’s official representative at stakeholder meetings, community engagements, and other pertinent forums.
Seeking a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, complemented by two or more years of relevant experience in software development or data analysis. Must demonstrate proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++, along with familiarity with database management systems and cloud computing platforms. Exceptional problem-solving skills, strong communication abilities, and a collaborative mindset are essential. Additional consideration will be given to applicants with experience in machine learning, DevOps practices, or agile methodologies. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning and innovation.
A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Food Science, Agribusiness, Agricultural Extension, Rural Development, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related discipline is required.
A minimum of three years of professional experience in agriculture, food security, livelihoods, food systems, supply chain management, post-harvest handling, or community development programs is required.
Proficiency in collaborating with agricultural stakeholders, including farmers, cooperatives, market systems, or food security programs, is strongly preferred.
Proficient knowledge of strategies to minimize post-harvest losses, mechanisms for recovering surplus food, and the interconnected processes within agricultural value chains is required.
Proven expertise in gathering, tracking, analyzing, and documenting data to support informed decision-making and strategic planning initiatives.
Proficient in written and verbal communication, with a strong ability to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely. Demonstrates exceptional problem-solving capabilities, analytical thinking, and attention to detail.
