SPIE Global Services Energy seeks to bolster its team in Nigeria by hiring a seasoned Senior HVAC Technician to support our offshore operations.
Responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the department, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures, and maintaining high standards of productivity and efficiency. Perform routine maintenance and address repair needs to ensure optimal functionality and longevity of equipment and facilities. Troubleshoot issues, conduct inspections, and execute necessary repairs promptly. Utilize technical expertise to diagnose problems and implement effective solutions while adhering to safety protocols. Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and coordinate with relevant teams to minimize operational disruptions.
Responsible for maintaining and repairing HVAC systems in critical environments such as control rooms and switchgear rooms.
Maintain positive pressure systems within control rooms to ensure hydrocarbon gas ingress is prevented, in accordance with IEC Ex and ALEX standards.
Maintain and refurbish chillers, packaged units, air handling systems, and variable refrigerant flow systems operating in high-corrosion saltwater environments.
Monitor drilling and production activities on a standby basis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the installation and commissioning of equipment and systems, ensuring they meet specified technical standards and operational requirements. This role involves coordinating with cross-functional teams, performing thorough testing and validation, and documenting all procedures and outcomes to guarantee compliance with regulatory and industry guidelines. Additionally, the position demands strong problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and the capacity to troubleshoot issues efficiently during the deployment phase.
Experienced technicians will be responsible for installing new HVAC systems while ensuring proper assembly and alignment of piping, ductwork, and electrical connections to meet industry standards and safety regulations.
Design and implement commissioning systems and perform rigorous performance testing to ensure seamless integration before transferring responsibilities to the operations team.
Read, analyze, and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, PIDs, and HVAC schematics as part of your duties.
Responsible for ensuring adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and compliance standards across all operations, the incumbent will oversee risk assessments, implement safety protocols, and enforce regulatory guidelines to mitigate hazards and prevent incidents. This role requires a strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory frameworks, along with the ability to conduct audits, investigate incidents, and provide training to staff on compliance matters. Additionally, the position involves maintaining accurate records, reporting metrics, and collaborating with leadership to continuously improve safety performance and ensure full compliance with legal and industry standards.
Guarantee adherence to NU PRC safety standards, ASHRAE guidelines, and the company’s Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) policies.
Before commencing any work on energized equipment, ensure all necessary permits, including Permit to Work (PTW), Job Safety Analysis (JSA), and Lockout/Ragout (LOT) procedures, are thoroughly completed to guarantee full compliance and operational safety.
Profile
Professional individuals with hands-on experience in offshore oil and gas production facilities, ideally including Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FASO) units, are encouraged to apply.
With a minimum of eight years of specialized expertise in the maintenance and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems, the ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on experience to the role.
Applicants must possess a recognized Ordinary National Diploma (OND) or an equivalent qualification, or have successfully completed a recognized trade apprenticeship program, or verified technician training scheme, accompanied by a minimum period of practical work experience.
Proven ability to collaborate efficiently within a team environment is required.
