Job Summary
The Junior Fiber Backhaul Engineer ensures the physical and logical integrity of the fiber network, which links core sites to distribution nodes.
The position entails overseeing daily operations, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations, and managing a team of professionals to meet organizational objectives. Key duties include developing strategic plans, monitoring performance metrics, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Additionally, the role requires coordinating with cross-functional teams, analyzing data to identify trends, and implementing process improvements as needed. Strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively are essential for success in this role.
Provide assistance with the installation and upkeep of fiber optic cabling systems and related distribution networks.
Employ tools such as Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (ODR) to detect and pinpoint fiber breaks or signal degradation.
Provide support in fiber splicing operations, site preparation tasks, and the documentation of infrastructure as part of new expansion initiatives.
Monitor environmental conditions at remote locations to identify potential risks to fiber network performance.
Core qualifications encompass a strong academic background in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline, complemented by at least three years of hands-on experience in software development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential, alongside expertise in frameworks like Django or Spring Boot. Familiarity with cloud platforms, including AWS or Azure, and containerization tools such as Docker is required. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate problem-solving skills, the ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams, and a commitment to writing clean, maintainable code. Strong communication abilities to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders are also necessary.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications is required.
Proficient in operating splicers and ODR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) equipment.
