Job Summary
The Junior Fiber Backhaul Engineer ensures the physical and logical integrity of the fiber network infrastructure, which links core sites to distribution nodes.
As part of this role, you will be tasked with overseeing key operational functions, ensuring adherence to established protocols while driving efficiency and effectiveness. The position requires meticulous attention to detail to maintain accuracy in reporting and documentation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align strategies, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement solutions that enhance productivity. Additionally, you will act as a liaison between departments, facilitating clear communication and fostering a cohesive working environment. Strong analytical skills are essential for interpreting data, assessing performance metrics, and making informed, strategic decisions to support organizational goals.
Assist with the installation and upkeep of fiber optic cabling systems and related distribution components.
Employ tools such as Optical Time-Domain Reflectometers (Others) to detect and pinpoint fiber breaks or signal degradation.
Provide support for fiber optic splicing procedures, site preparation tasks, and the documentation of infrastructure as part of new expansion initiatives.
Track environmental conditions at off-site locations to assess potential risks to fiber network integrity.
Core Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree or a Higher National Diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer Science, or Telecommunications is required.
Proficiency in operating splicers and ODR equipment is essential.
