Interpret and synthesize geological data to deliver strategic well-site geological support for oil field drilling operations. This involves optimizing horizontal well bore placement, compiling final well reports, updating horizontal well cross-sections, generating maps, and preparing formation evaluation logs for both recently drilled and historical wells. Additionally, provide geological expertise to interdisciplinary teams engaged in reservoir studies and field development planning. Furthermore, cultivate the professional growth of less experienced staff through mentorship and guidance.

The Well site Geologist oversees all geological personnel and operations at the well site, including mud logging, Logging While Drilling (LWD), Wirelike services, and core handling/processing, while ensuring the quality and accuracy of all geological data acquisition and reporting.
Well site geological services encompass specialized expertise in monitoring, analyzing, and interpreting geological data during drilling operations to ensure accurate formation evaluation and risk mitigation. These services involve real-time monitoring of drilling parameters, sample analysis, and well site geology to optimize drilling efficiency and enhance hydrocarbon recovery. Compilation and distribution of well completion reports are conducted as part of this role, ensuring accurate documentation and timely delivery to relevant stakeholders.
Coordination of Wellsite Geological Activities (“Operations Geologist”): Coordinate, monitor, and administer Company operated wellsite geotechnical activities.
Pre-drilling planning entails comprehensive preparatory measures to ensure the successful execution of drilling operations. This involves analyzing geological data, assessing subsurface conditions, and identifying potential hazards to mitigate risks before commencing drilling activities. Key responsibilities include collaborating with geologists and engineers to develop optimized drilling plans, securing necessary permits and regulatory approvals, and coordinating logistical arrangements such as equipment mobilization and site preparation. Additionally, the role requires evaluating historical drilling performance, integrating advanced technologies where applicable, and ensuring adherence to safety and environmental protocols throughout the planning phase.
Serves as the primary liaison with external geological service providers.
Monitor and oversee well site geologic data collection and evaluation processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness while relaying critical findings to relevant stakeholders. Facilitate consistent communication through scheduled teleconferences and meetings. Additionally, validate and approve invoices related to geological services for compliance and financial accuracy.
Post-drill responsibilities encompass the coordination of sample, log, and report shipments, alongside the execution of specialized or ad hoc projects.
Responsible for monitoring and analyzing abnormal pressure conditions within the wellborn, Abnormal Pressure Surveillance ensures early detection of potential hazards such as kicks, loss of circulation, or formation fluid influx. This role involves continuous evaluation of pressure trends, real-time data interpretation, and prompt reporting mitigating risks associated with drilling operations. Candidates must possess a strong background in petroleum engineering or a related field, along with proficiency in pressure monitoring software and well control procedures. Additionally, expertise in identifying abnormal pressure zones and implementing corrective measures is essential to maintain operational safety and efficiency.
Monitor all pressure parameters that deviate from the norm, recording them in the pressure evaluation log and discussing the findings with the Company Operations Geologist and Drilling Supervisors as necessary.
Compile and disseminate comprehensive reports that integrate key parameters, field observations, and expert analysis with clarity and precision.
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C++ is essential.
Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on logical reasoning and analytical thinking.
Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in software development or a related technical field.
Familiarity with development methodologies like Agile or Scrum frameworks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.

Proven track record of designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable software solutions.

With a proven track record in the field of petroleum geology, candidates should possess hands-on experience as a Well site Geologist. Proficient in both written and spoken English, possessing strong organizational and coordination abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to collaborate effectively in team settings.
Offshore experience encompassing platform and deviated well drilling, along with the application of related technologies such as Logging While Drilling (LWD) and While Drilling (WL), is required.
Applicants must maintain peak physical fitness and strictly adhere to all health, safety, and project-specific protocols, including obtaining any mandatory rig or country-specific certifications necessary for offshore work.
Successfully completed an OPITO-recognized Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (DUET) course, Sea Survival training, and H2S certification within the past two years. All certifications must remain valid and not expire before the project’s anticipated completion date.
Proficient in mud logging, cuttings analysis, and real-time image log interpretation, leveraging these techniques to accurately correlate data and ascertain lithology and well path.
Proficiency in directional drilling techniques, well planning processes, and depth control measurements is required, along with a solid grasp of Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) configurations and functions.
Candidates should possess practical experience in conducting coring operations, having worked with the necessary equipment and techniques to extract geological samples effectively. This role requires familiarity with the processes involved in obtaining core samples from subsurface formations, ensuring accurate data collection and adherence to safety protocols.
Skilled in collaborating within integrated asset team frameworks to enhance operational efficiency and project outcomes. Proven ability to contribute effectively within cross-functional teams to achieve shared objectives and optimize asset performance.
Proven expertise in utilizing structural geology principles and techniques to evaluate reservoir compartmentalization and fluid communication.
