Well site Geological Services encompass the critical on-site evaluation of subsurface formations during drilling operations, providing real-time geological data to optimize well placement and enhance hydrocarbon recovery. This role demands expertise in interpreting lithological variations, identifying reservoir zones, and mitigating drilling risks such as unexpected pressure regimes or wellborn instability. Candidates must possess a degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field, along with hands-on experience in mud logging, wirelike logging, or directional drilling support. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in industry-standard software, and the ability to communicate technical findings clearly to multidisciplinary teams are essential. The incumbent is responsible for compiling and distributing Well Completion Reports, as well as overseeing Well site Geological Activities in the capacity of Operations Geologist. This role involves coordinating, supervising, and managing company-operated well site geotechnical operations to ensure adherence to established protocols and project objectives.
Conduct pre-drill planning to ensure thorough preparation for upcoming drilling operations, encompassing detailed analysis, strategic scheduling, and comprehensive risk assessment to optimize efficiency and safety throughout the process.
As the primary liaison for external geological service providers, you will facilitate communication and coordination between the organization and third-party vendors.
Monitor and coordinate the acquisition and analysis of geological data at the well site, ensuring timely dissemination of findings to key stakeholders through regular teleconferences and meetings. Additionally, oversee the review and verification of invoices related to geological services to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Post-drill duties involve overseeing the transportation of samples, logs, and reports, in addition to executing specialized or urgent assignments.
Responsible for monitoring and analyzing abnormal pressure conditions in oil and gas wells, the Abnormal Pressure Surveillance role involves continuous evaluation of wellborn pressures to detect deviations from expected parameters. This position requires expertise in pressure monitoring technologies, data interpretation, and risk assessment to identify potential hazards such as kicks, losses, or well control incidents. Key responsibilities include real-time surveillance, trend analysis, and implementation of corrective measures to maintain well integrity and operational safety. Candidates must possess a strong background in petroleum engineering or a related field, proficiency in pressure analysis software, and experience with well control procedures. Effective communication and collaboration with drilling and production teams are essential to ensure timely responses to abnormal pressure events.
Monitor all pressure parameters that deviate from normal ranges, documenting observations in the pressure evaluation log and coordinating reviews with the company operations geologist and Drilling Supervisors as necessary.
Produce and disseminate comprehensive reports that consolidate parameters, observations, and interpretations for stakeholder review and analysis.
We are seeking a highly skilled professional who meets the following criteria: a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field, at least three years of hands-on experience in a comparable role, and proficiency in industry-standard software tools. A recognized institution must confer either a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree in Geology.
Experienced Well site Geologists bring a proven background in geological monitoring and real-time data analysis during drilling operations. They possess strong analytical skills to interpret geological formations, identify potential risks, and make timely recommendations to optimize drilling efficiency and wellborn stability. These professionals ensure accurate geological data collection and maintain rigorous quality control standards while collaborating closely with drilling engineers, mud loggers, and well site supervisors to support safe and effective well construction.
Proficient in both written and verbal English communication, possess strong organizational and coordination abilities, and demonstrate exceptional teamwork skills.
Offshore experience encompassing platform and deviated well drilling, along with associated technologies such as LWD and WL, is required.
Applicants must maintain excellent physical fitness and adhere strictly to all health, safety, and project protocols, encompassing any mandatory rig- or country-specific certifications essential for offshore work.
Successfully completed an OPITO-recognized Helicopter Underwater Escape Training (DUET), sea survival, and helideck safety (HS) course within the last two years, with all certifications remaining valid for the full duration of the project.
Proficient in mud logging, including detailed cuttings descriptions, real-time image log interpretation, and correlating data to accurately determine lithology and well path alignment.
Proven expertise in directional drilling operations, encompassing comprehensive well planning, precise depth control measurements, and in-depth knowledge of Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) components and functionality.
Proven expertise in conducting coring operations, including the practical application and oversight of core sampling techniques.
Proven track record of collaborating effectively within integrated asset teams to optimize asset performance and drive operational excellence.
Proven expertise in utilizing structural geology principles and techniques to evaluate compartmentalization and assess communication within geological formations is required.
Professionals with experience collaborating with geologic modelers to integrate geological maps and their interpretations into three-dimensional geologic models are encouraged to apply.
