Job Summary

A loan recovery officer is tasked with overseeing and collecting delinquent loans while fostering constructive relationships with clients.

The position entails reaching out to borrowers with overdue payments, collaborating to establish suitable repayment arrangements, overseeing loan account statuses, and verifying adherence to internal guidelines and legal standards.

Purpose

To facilitate prompt recovery of delinquent loans while reducing the organization’s exposure to credit losses, the role involves executing strategic debt recovery initiatives, fostering constructive customer interactions, and adhering to established company protocols as well as applicable regulatory mandates.

Oversee and execute core duties encompassing strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership to drive organizational success. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to enhance efficiency, productivity, and compliance with industry standards. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for improvement, innovation, and growth. Ensure adherence to budgetary constraints while optimizing resource allocation to achieve key performance indicators. Monitor progress through performance metrics, KPIs, and regular assessments to foster continuous improvement. Serve as a primary liaison between senior management and departmental teams to align objectives and streamline communication.

Oversee loan repayment timelines and evaluate accounts that have fallen behind schedule.

Utilize various communication channels, including phone calls, emails, letters, and in-person visits, to engage borrowers for the purpose of recovering overdue debts.

Negotiate repayment schedules and debt restructuring solutions with customers in default as required.

Accurately document all recovery actions performed and ensure detailed records of every customer interaction are maintained.

Conduct thorough analyses to ascertain the underlying causes of loan defaults and propose suitable recovery strategies.

Craft and dispatch demand notices and recovery correspondence to borrowers with outstanding payments.

Collaborate effectively with legal officers and external recovery agents to manage complex recovery cases.

Monitor and document recovery performance metrics, outstanding balances, and collection patterns to provide comprehensive reports.

To maintain adherence to internal credit policies, regulatory standards, and ethical collection procedures, diligent oversight is required.

Perform on-site inspections to verify the status and recover delinquent loan accounts.

Upon evaluating recovery prospects, recommend appropriate actions—such as write-offs, repossession, or legal proceedings—to management for consideration.

Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all customer data and internal company documentation.

A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience is required. Candidates must possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in data analysis tools, and excellent communication abilities. Prior experience in project management or related roles is highly desirable. Additionally, familiarity with industry-specific software and a solid understanding of business processes are essential.
