Summary
The Generator Mechanic performs mechanical installation, servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on diesel generators with capacities of 20kVA or greater, ensuring dependable operation, optimal fuel efficiency, and reduced downtime.
Manages and oversees operational activities to ensure efficiency and effectiveness. Develops and implements policies, procedures, and systems to enhance productivity. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to align goals and streamline workflows. Monitors performance metrics and reports progress to senior leadership. Identifies areas for improvement and recommends strategic initiatives. Ensures compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards. Manages budgets, allocates resources, and optimizes cost-effective solutions. Supervises staff performance, provides guidance, and fosters professional development.
Service diesel generators ranging from 20kVA to 500kVA in strict adherence to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance and address corrective maintenance tasks as needed.
Identify and resolve mechanical malfunctions affecting diesel engine systems.
Service fuel, cooling, lubrication, and exhaust systems to ensure optimal engine performance and reliability. Perform thorough inspections, diagnose issues, and conduct necessary repairs or replacements to maintain system integrity. Utilize specialized tools and diagnostic equipment to identify inefficiencies or malfunctions, ensuring all systems operate within manufacturer specifications. Maintain detailed records of service activities, repairs performed, and parts replaced to support maintenance tracking and compliance with regulatory standards.
Perform comprehensive engine overhauls, replace deteriorating components, and execute precise alignments to ensure optimal performance and safety.
Conduct load testing and commissioning operations to ensure system reliability and performance.
Ensure thorough documentation of service records and job reports, maintaining precision and completeness throughout.
Ensure adherence to Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards and company-specific safety protocols in all work activities.
In the event of emergency breakdowns, ensure immediate response to address and resolve issues without delay.
Requirements
A Trade Test Certificate, OND, or qualification from a Technical College in Mechanical Engineering, or possession of a relevant professional certification, is advantageous.
Minimum 3 years of direct, practical experience in the operation and maintenance of diesel generators ranging from 20kVA to 500kVA.
Proficiency in engines manufactured by Perkins, Cummins, MTU, or comparable brands is required.
Hands-on experience within industrial, commercial, or power generation environments is essential.
