The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) role encompasses ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, and implementing preventive measures to mitigate workplace hazards. Duties include monitoring workplace conditions, investigating incidents, and providing safety training to employees. Context:

A full-time, office-based role is available in Lagos, with periodic travel required to the THP office or contractor site.

Mandatory routine visits to the well site are essential to assist supervisors in their responsibilities.

Safe and reliable execution of multimillion-dollar DST projects is essential, ensuring both project integrity and adherence to strict safety standards throughout the delivery process.

Interface with various departments and external entities, including Geosciences and Reservoir Engineering, Field Operations, Purchasing and Contracts, Technical Logistics, Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), among others.

Oversee a range of critical duties, including the development and execution of strategic initiatives, management of daily operations, and coordination of cross-functional teams to achieve organizational objectives. Ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies while maintaining high standards of efficiency and effectiveness. Collaborate with senior leadership to identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation, and implement solutions to enhance productivity and performance. Monitor key performance indicators to assess progress, provide regular updates to stakeholders, and make data-driven decisions to drive continuous growth and success. Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and collaboration among team members.

Engages in strategic planning, equipment procurement, equipment preparation, coordination with service companies, and optimization processes for Deepwater Drill Stem Testing (DST) and surface well testing operations.

Develop a comprehensive Drill Stem Test (DST) program encompassing the operational sequence, risk evaluation, and contingency measures. Demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting Deepwater DST operations and executing the close out procedures.

Delivers technical assistance to the Drilling Superintendent and on-site personnel throughout DST well site operations, ensuring strict adherence to established procedures by supervisory staff. Where relevant, prepares and conducts timely risk assessments for Management of Change (MOC) to sustain operational continuity.

Organize and conduct comprehensive well on paper (CROP) and risk assessment sessions specifically for DST operations.

Conducts on-site visits to service companies to ensure equipment is properly prepared and to uphold service quality standards.

Conduct on-site visits to facilitate equipment intake, rig-up operations, and provide support to site supervisors as needed; step into the role of rig site supervisor to fill any gaps in on-site supervision.

Facilitates the dissemination of lessons learned and best practices to the service company and other relevant stakeholders to enhance operational knowledge and continuous improvement.

Maintains a comprehensive understanding of key performance indicators (KPIs) and service quality metrics, systematically comparing operational outcomes against established performance benchmarks to drive continuous improvement.

Engages collaboratively in performance evaluations and Drilling & Wells Improvement Process (DIP) meetings to drive continuous enhancement.

Ensure all DST-related and other identified improvement actions are thoroughly addressed and resolved.

Engage in audits focused on the quality and safety performance of DST and surface well test contractor services.

Verify the precision of all WELLIES DDR entries pertaining to Daylight Saving Time (DST) adjustments.

Monitor DST operations expenditures to ensure alignment with the allocated budget and confirm that adequate funding remains available for the project.

A bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field is required, along with three to five years of experience in software development, preferably with a focus on cloud computing or distributed systems. Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, or Go is essential, as is experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are also necessary. Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes is a plus. Excellent communication skills and a passion for continuous learning are highly valued.

A minimum of an HND or B.Sc. in an engineering discipline, coupled with over a decade of extensive experience in Deepwater Drill Stem Testing (DST), is required.

Professionals should possess comprehensive expertise in DST/well equipment, surface well test systems, subsea landing strings, as well as general drilling and completion methodologies.

Individuals should demonstrate exceptional proficiency in analysis, reporting, communication, leadership, and negotiation.

Individuals must exhibit strong problem-solving abilities to address both procedural and technical challenges effectively.

Proficiency in the regulatory frameworks and industry best practices pertaining to DST (Drill Stem Testing) and surface well testing within the Nigerian Deepwater sector is required.

A valid SOVIET/TH UET certificate and a current medical examination certificate are required for this role.
